Highly detailed... I don't think so. You should make it more like a real city, and add more GAIA-others objects. They make the map much more good-looking. Also some palms inside the city.
But I like the guardpost with the sharpshooter. Not very hard to create, but very effective. You could need more than one if it was a battlemap.

Not a very bad attempt for making this map, the entrance of the city was okay but there is not very much eyecandy and the city is a bit small, although the dock looked nice with the river inside the town
Additional Comments:
this isnt too bad but you must work on eyecandy and make it a bit more detailed to make it good

My first rating, so likely to screw it up, lol. Ok, there was one great thing, and one really bad thing about this town.
Good thing: You worked hard on the cliffs and elevation surrounding the city to make it look good. A little more work on that, combined with being in the center of the map, would have given this file a 3.
Bad thing(s): Put it in the center of the map, so people can decide what part of the town they want to keep, then paste it into whatever place they want. It is also obvious to me that you spent little or no time looking at other "desert cities" before making your own. I could find a hundred better cities in the AOK Campaigns. I can tell you spent time placing gaia, but you placed the wrong gaia, and it looks goofy instead of good. The best way to refine your work is to look at others work to learn.
This gets a 2.5 instead of a 1 only because the cliffs and elevation are well done and could be very useful for a city in the corner of a desert map (however rare it may be).
