This Scenario was meant as my contribution for Ensemble Studio's "Heros of the Ages" contest (I know that's quite a while ago) and I came to the conclusion that I put too much work into this to let it modder on my Harddrive. Before you download this, please keep in mind that the file is large, around 5 Mb.
The Scenario is about ALexander Nevksy and the historical events in the Baltic Area in the Years 1240-42.
this is named Beta because it's untested, and the finish of the scenario was stitched together with the hot needle. If I get some positive response I might overwork it again to give it the final touch. |

At a file size like that, you've got no chance! |

This is my review of "A Twilighted Hero".
Playability:
This is a difficult area of scenario designer to achieve. The designer did a good job with this element. But he did get a 4 because there was something lacking which I couldn't put my finger on. But still a good rating.
Balance:
Another difficult area to achieve. The designer did a good job in this area. There were no problems here as he knew exactly what he wanted and how to go about it, thus making the continuity a smoother transition for himself and the player. Well done.
Creativity:
The designer had obviously known well in advance what he wanted in this scenario. This is where research comes in handy. Good job.
Map Design:
The eyecandy in this was particularly pleasant, being one of the more pleasant aspects of the scenario. There is nothing more pleasing to a players eye than to see some nice countryside when travelling around a map.
Story/Instructions:
I found the instructions to be clear in this scenario. And again the research done on this subject was very well done.
However, there were some problems with the dialogue between characters. For example, the conversation text isn't left on the screen long enough. I suggest the designer go to the Design Articles section at SCNPunk, and look up the triggers section, particularly on how to make an effective conversation.
Overall:
This was a good, highly playable scenario. It is a pity that the designer had left it in storage for so long. He should be proud. |

The problem with the file size of the campaign being large can be justified if the campaign itself is good. It is good to encourage people to use their creativity, even if it means increasing the campaign size. Everything comes at a price.. |

I mean... you could have just uploaded all the sounds into a zip on your own website, then post a link to it in a player comment on this download. Then, in the actual zip on this website, file size would be much less. Sounds are not particuarly needed in a cpn, but they make it alot better. |

HOW OFTEN MUST SAY IT:IT'S NOT THE SOUND FILES ;IT'S NOT THE AI-FILES IT'S THE +*#\ CAMPAIGN FILE ITSELF.sorry for shouting but i get a little tired to repeat it over and over again.the campaign file itself has alreády about 5.03 MB's the other files are still altogether around 300 KB(maybe i don't remember it exactly) and btw:no i have no clue what blowed it up like that, |

This had the potential to be a great game. It was let down by poor instructions, and an impossible entry into the red fortress built high up and no access.
Edit: Unless there's some way to obtain the troops in the forested area there's no way to win.
Good game otherwise.[Edited on 04/24/08 @ 03:44 AM]
