The Last Samurai Castle
The greatest discovery of all time has been made by a scientist called Virrus Newstone, on the Isles of Paradise. He assembles the people to test his creation. One man is summoned to do it. His name is Sam Hawkins
This is the story, of how two young men, fighting for two different causes, can become friends, from being archenemies, and how hostile tribes can become closest allies
This is all fictional.
Its actually based on a comic I'm making. Though in swedish.
This is the introdution for a full scale campaign, coming sometime in the future. As you know, I have lots of projects, so I dont promise anything
But take a look, and download
I Hope you will all enjoy!
Thanks to:
Mashek - For starting this superb competition
Zanzard Lothar - For making Advanced Immobile Units Ai, wich I used for this cut-scene
sounddogs.com - For many soundfiles
Magic Amazon - For the evil laugh sound
My brother and friends - For support when making the comic, leading to this
Ensemble Studios - For a sound, from AoK
Thanks to you all!
And to you who download! |

Playability: 4
I enjoyed watching the Last Samurai Castle, it was a humorous, unusual cutscene. Unfortunately there were a couple of bugs, as the author states, however these were random glitches and as the cutscene is not too long, replaying is not a major problem.
Balance: 5
Automaticly given for cutscenes.
Creativity: 4+
I almost gave creativity a 5, this is about time travelling after all! But in the end I just felt I couldn't give it top marks, as there was nothing absolutely outstanding. The design of a time machine was quite creative, but (as was to be expected) it wasn't mind-blowing. The evil laugh and some of the characters were also creative.
Map Design: 4
This was above average, but again it didn't merit top marks. Decent trrain mixing and good use of objects. One thing I wasn't so keen on was the stacked plants that looked very odd in the gardens, occurring in the grid pattern. A rug trapped under a tree also looked strange. But mostly good.
Story/Instructions: 5-
This I liked. It was an unusual and well set up story with lots of promise and interesting characters. There is potential for the conflict between Sam and Felix. The humour was also good, the evil laugh and Felix's thoughts. I'm also interested in the (what appeared to me) sinister meeting at the end. There were a couple of spelling and grammar mistakes, but this is not the author's first language so nothing was deducted. The story isn't absolutely fantastic, but then it is in its infancy, and could well be very good.
Additional Comments:
Good things:
+Story
+Concept
Things to improve:
-A couple of renames of the minor characters would be nice
-The stacked plants
-The occassional bugs
Overall I recommend this cutscene, and hope the main story lives up to this.

Even though you don't control units for this scenario, from what I can see, when the full campaign is finished I can expect this too be as enjoyable playing it as it was watching it.
Balance: 5
It is a cut-scene.
Creativity: 5
I have never seen a map more creative with its use of storyline and the map. The whole idea is something I haven't seen and this is an original idea. Good work!
Map Design: 5
The map is well designed, with its lush surroundings and well thought out layout.
Story/Instructions: 4
The story is cleverly designed, the instructions for what the main campaign is about couldn't be clearer, yet with your clear storyline, we can expect to have a large twist which will create a more exciting campaign.
Additional Comments:
This scenario was good so far as it slowly brings you into the storyline and makes it far less confusing. From the varying armies listed, and using marco polo to look at the extra, I feel this will have a well balanced campaign as there is lots of features that most people will like.
Overall, I am looking forward to a completed campaign if you are. This storyline is completely original and thats the way storylines should be![Edited on 10/02/06 @ 06:08 PM]

Thanks for the review Lord_Refzon, and all the compliments.
I just have one appointement: For Balance, all cut-scenes has to get an automatic 5 as there is not actual game to play and no way of seeing if the game is unbalanced or not.
I did the same mistake in my first cut-scene review too, so its nothing to worry about, just change into a 5
Thanks again :D |

Lord_Rezfon, you should review the scenario as it stands; predictions could go into 'Additional Comments' if you find them necessary. I sent you an e-mail, edited and approved the review. |
