Marooned!

Author File Description
Sir Lawrence
File Details
Version: The Conquerors
Style: Mix
Shipwrecked on a small island after a pirate attack, you must find a way to return to rebuild your colony on the mainland. Efficient, masterful tactics and cunning are needed to recover the plundered gold. Several puzzles and surprises await you. Be wary of the British loyalists!

An opening video sets the scene and numerous sound files enhance the experience of this single-scenario campaign. Intended to challenge even the best of players, a walkthrough is included for the faint-hearted.

Includes 1 video file, 26 sound files, 65 triggers, and 3 AI scripts containing over 1600 lines of code. Use the saved folder names to unzip the files to their proper locations assuming AoE was installed in the default location on the local hard drive.

Requires Conquerors expansion.

Wilhelm Vaste 1 question

how do you get off the island???

Wilhelm,

The solution to getting off of the island can be found in the first 10 minutes of the LCS Marooned Walkthrough.doc file that was included in your download. But before you read the answer, maybe you just need a few hints.
1) You lack raw material at the outset but you DO have a market for a short time at the beginning of the game.
2) A survivalist views everything around them as a potential resource.
3) The straightfoward approach to getting off the island is doomed to failure because the pirates are on the lookout for that move.

Hope that helps!
morgoth bauglir Well, there is no point of making a avi of the same story in teh instructions (especially when it is 35mb big, at least I think so). If you value sound files and such stuff, this scenario is good. It's worth a download but nothing too special.
Wilhelm Vaste Thanks Sir Lawrence great help.

morgoth bauglir:

I see your point about having the same story in the avi and the instructions. It's like having both the audio book and the hardbound book of the same title. In this case I thought it might be nice to provide both since I didn't know which you would prefer.

From your comment about the scenario not being anything special except for sound files, can I assume that you successfully completed it?

I enjoyed playing Marooned! great puzzle at the game's start.

The AVI file is good and I do not want to miss it, the story twice is a good idea as you can skip the AVI clicking when you restart.

WizardBoy im surprised by your AI. It has quite advanced stuff inside. Im therefore wondering where you foudn that knowledge as i like to use AI things in scenario's too. So could you tell me where i should look for that?

Thanks in advance

PS: its worth the download, to play your map!!

WizardBoy: To learn all about triggers and AI scripts, I read the book entitled "Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings Official Scenario Design Toolkit", ISBN 0-7821-2771-1, published by Sybex in 2000. I found my copy on either eBay or Amazon.com. You can probably purchase a copy for less than $5. Don't worry if the accompanying CD is missing. It's not essential.

About 50 pages are devoted to AI scripting. Finding this information cleared up a lot of things, revealed possibilities, and reduced my frustration level from extreme to merely annoyed - a lot of trial and error was still required. You must be patient and persistent. Examining others' AI scripts also helped.

Good luck!
WizardBoy thanks, i will come over and think about to buy that book and learn it in that way. I have seen that i can learn scripting by the CSPB document but that wont explain all that well.
Even the AIscripters.com arent a good site to ask as i become annoying with all the easy-to-answer questions or the you-can-also-figure-it-out-yourself questions. That's not nice.
In that way i cant learn it. So do you know another place to learn also a lot of AI scripting instead of reading that book as it cost me money? ( im not telling you that i couldnt pay it myself but i just want to know somehow to get those information i need )

Your AI is very hard to understand because it have all very advanced stuff. As you have learned the most from the book it is logically seen normal that you know that many :)
