This is my first map I have submitted here, so I hope that I can get some positive comments back;)
Other than that, my scenario is the first in a campaign i am trying to make, about Robin Hood, fighting for freedom in England.

Quick is right...I was just barely exploring...got into my first battle and won the game...maybe make roland a different player with no one but him (on immobile units even) |

lol What a joke. Robin fought against Prince John and The Sherrif of Nottingham. Not Roland. Good night.[Edited on 09/13/06 @ 01:54 PM]

It is certain that Robin Hood did not fight Prince John, this is a version added later to the legend. Richard the Lionhearted died 1199 and Prince John 1216. The first mention of a Robin Hood in England was 1377. Before that, some criminals took the pseudonym of Robin Hood for their crimes, they probably heard of a Frenchman with that name. The name is French, Robin des Bois, first mentioned in France around 1200, meaning Robin of the forest or Robin of the wood. Translated at that time the English name for wood was whode, which became Hood, which is a headgear. All English legends place him in a forest be it Barnsdale or Sherwood pointing to his French origins. Lady Marian comes also from a French writer before any mention in England, "le Jeu de Robin et Marion" in 1283, again before we found any trace of a Robin Hood in England. So as it is certain that Robin Hood never fought Prince John or the Sheriff of Nottingham, the first English writings place Robin Hood in the Barnsdale forest, which would be the jurisdiction of the Sheriff of York, it might be possible that the historical Robin Hood, if he existed, fought a man named Roland. :p

I have heard many reports on Robin hood. Some say he did fight against the Sherrif and Prince John. Others that he helped out in the crusades. Others that he helped save Richard the Lionhearted. However, I have NEVER seen any reports of him fighting a man named Roland. I consider myself to be a history expert. Especially on the midevil wars and also on the world wars. You could ask me about the tactics of the midevil times, I could answer allmost any question on the World wars, However, I am discusting on dates. Through out all my knowlege of history, I have never heard of a man named Roland. |

But there is no need to follow the history books... King Arthur is a great stroy and would probably make a good campaign but that just a myth. Of course its nice to have it correct to history but there is not need to critisise. Good first map mate! i look forward to see some more. |

Playability: 2
Robin Hodd starts in sherwood forest with a small army or meryy men. The idea is to attack the fortifications of Roland and Kill Roland. The map i think requires more detail to the terrain to make it more visually appealing. I liked the choice of units (pikeman and Longbowmen) but I think you should have made less of them to create more of a challange and make a use for the town center and villagers.
Balance: 2
required a larger range of options to attack, maybe a few different routes to Rolands town.
The teams are well balanced but it would probably be better to either have roland stay in his town so he doesnt personally attack, or create more units on Rolands side.
Creativity: 2
Robin Hood is a popular option for people first scenarios, it was my first scenario, i never submitted it but it was a lot of fun creating it. So i like the idea, but i think you should experiment with triggers to create a more individual and creative map
Map Design: 2
Robin Hood and his band of merry men are in a small clearing in a forest, to reach rolands town there is a thin route through the trees or a passage via a river. The map could use more detail. try to edit a frame at a time.
Story/Instructions: 2
Not a huge amount of storyline. but the instructions are clear and visable.
Additional Comments:
Excellent first Scenario, you definatly have potential. Try practicing with the triggers. once you learn how to use them creating a map becomes a lot more fun and unique to the player. |
