Role Playing Strategy |
Brelda is 12 years old and lives with his parents, his grandmother and his two brothers Attila and Bleda in a calm hunnish village in the mountains.
His father teach him all that a hunnish warrior needs: He learns to handle a bow, how to hunt and the right bearing in the wilderness. Like every hun. Till to that fateful letter that changed Brelda’s life and guided him to exciting adventures. From insidious bandits, over mystic magicians, crazed alchemist, dusky caves till to spooky forests will await his way. If he’s able to master these adventures, decide only you alone.
The game has a approximate time of perhaps 4 hours.
Optimal modulation for to game:
Gamespeed: Fast
Degree of difficulty: Moderate
Resolution: 1024x768 or 1280x1024
Music: Off (the map has its own backgroundmusic)
I hope you'll have fun to play it and please ignore the grammatic- and/or spellingfaults. :)

Playability: 5-
"Brelda the Hun" is possibly one of the most enjoyable RPGs/RPSs in the AoK heaven blacksmith, if not THE most entertaining one. However, what forced me to give it a 5- was the fact that the game was a bit overloaded with units, and that hurts computers with low RAM, such as mine, making the game not function at an appropriate speed. This was a mayor factor in my gaming experience, because sometimes it became very annoying. But besides that, I had a lot of fun playing this campaign. It was a nice challenge.
Balance: 5
I'll give balance a five since the game fits perfectly the description of the ideal balance: you may loose many times, but you know that if you done things slightly different you should win. In other words: a great challenge. I didn't find the outpost a problem, since it was only a choice for less-experienced players. I think that it actually helps to make the game more balanced for beginners who find the game TOO challenging.
Creativity: 5
Most aspects in the game where really creative. The side quests and main quests were mostly creative if not completely innovative. In my opinion, one of the most creative aspects was the story, since you don't see on any campaign a story told by a 12 years old boy (later 16).
Map Design: 5+
I talk for my own experience when I say that snowy terrains are one of the hardest terrains to design. This campaign is a perfect example of how should snowy sectors be designed, with an awesome use of terrain mixing, eye-candy and the appropriate trees. Really deserves the "+" here.
Story/Instructions: 5-
The story, as I said before, is one of the most creative aspects of the game, since it's told by a 12 years old boy and it REALLY seems as it was told by a boy (no offense intended). I really liked to see the character descriptions in the Scouts section, as it really helps you understand the world of Brelda. Concerning instructions, they were detailed and you didn't feel lost about what you have to do. However, I'm giving it a "5-" due to the problems with the translation, which was a bit poor in some parts. You must check everything again; there even were some parts without translation.
Additional Comments:
"Brelda the Hun" is the best RPG/RPS I've played, and it's a *must download* for every player, even if you aren't a big fan of the genre. Just ignore the translation which was poor sometimes and be a bit patient if you have a slow computer.[Edited on 01/30/07 @ 06:57 AM]

@The Wolf Hunter: Of course Egon is at his tower, but he likes to play hide-and-seek. ;)
Thx a lot for the two other reviews. I'll try to improve my grammatic and I can exercise by translating another map from me.
Let's see, how long I'll need.[Edited on 01/30/07 @ 06:31 PM]

Watch your Step.
They're switches (road surface) on the ground. Avoid stepping on them, then the catapults won't appear. ;) |

Ok... that's the heaviest passage in the game. So, first of all I made a little screen with an clear view of the forest. The enemies, the ideal way and that stuff: http://img337.imageshack.us/img337/3876/grafik2tf3.jpg
Then personally I adivse:
- Use the hillbonus and Hit&Run
- Kill the ghosts with brelda
- Use Ricky to lure the undead and try to block them, so that they can't attack Brelda.
- If nothing should help, use the outpost to improve Brelda's abilities.
I hope, I could help you. I wish you good luck on your way. :)[Edited on 03/10/07 @ 01:35 PM]

This is a very good scenario and so far i have enjoyed it a lot, but I am stuck and have been for ages at the orange town (Beron). How do i get out of it after i have hired my army? it is not made very clear what i have to do. I recommend this scenario a lot btw. |
