Role Playing Strategy |
Brelda is 12 years old and lives with his parents, his grandmother and his two brothers Attila and Bleda in a calm hunnish village in the mountains.
His father teach him all that a hunnish warrior needs: He learns to handle a bow, how to hunt and the right bearing in the wilderness. Like every hun. Till to that fateful letter that changed Brelda’s life and guided him to exciting adventures. From insidious bandits, over mystic magicians, crazed alchemist, dusky caves till to spooky forests will await his way. If he’s able to master these adventures, decide only you alone.
The game has a approximate time of perhaps 4 hours.
Optimal modulation for to game:
Gamespeed: Fast
Degree of difficulty: Moderate
Resolution: 1024x768 or 1280x1024
Music: Off (the map has its own backgroundmusic)
I hope you'll have fun to play it and please ignore the grammatic- and/or spellingfaults. :)

Wow... My first review
Playability: 5
Absolutely Fun and lots of choices. Going through the game 2 - 3 times could result in different choices (although nothing changing the game)
Balance: 4
Everything seemed to be well in balance, although it seemed the people could abuse the outpost. But none the less the use of elevation is important for killing, instead of just walzing in and obliterating everything without anything touching you (I'm a noob, I tend to do that alot)
Creativity: 5
VERY creative. I liked how instead of receiving the unit, you just get escorted by them, and it's quite humorous, and it actually seems like a twelve year old is telling the story! (No disrespect)
Map Design: 5
Quite a nice design, the dungeon looked very nice with the sea walls, and palisade walls. Everything seemed to blend together instead of in some scenario's... Just going from winter to desert within 5 steps. and the pitfall was very clever... I kept falling for it XD
Story/Instructions: 5
VERY historically inaccurate, but what good campaign isn't? None the less I enjoyed the story and the instructions made everything clear! I was NEVER lost!
Additional Comments:
Very good campaign! Keep 'em coming!

Beeing an RPG style game i was immediatly taken in by the quests and simple task you had to perform as playing the character 'Brelda'. The Game definatly make you feel right in the story and the author has used a technique by making a lot of different ways of playing the story. There is a fair share of small cut scenes which really give you some rest in the game as it is such a long game to complete and the cutscenes can give you that rest so that you can watch a little bit. I was unaware of many bugs but unfortunatly the grammer used in some of the instructions was a dissapointment.
Balance: 5
Having 'Brelda' as an archer was the best possible option as most of the bandits seemed to be foot soldiers and in most cases had a better chance of killing you. A great way of balancing this out was the use of elevation which was consitient throughout the game. The Outpost was a must have and i found myself needing to use it a few times in the quest where i had to defend the monastary of magic where you get to gather a small army and use all your skills in order to defend the small town. Having been unsucsessful the first time i found myself changing troop combinations like the instructions suggested.
Creativity: 5
There was a great deal of trigger tricks used to perfection nothing which was too overboard they where perfect for the map and i was thrilled at the idea of having the player possibly fail if the quest was not followed. I was pleased with the use of triggers on almost every person in the village having to click on them but first beeing next to them. The experience trigger did get a little annoying after playing the game 4 hours + but find a way to remove that and the map will be perfect.
Map Design: 5
The map was fantastic having been set in a snowing town and i love the snow sets in Aoe2 and the use of Snow Pine trees and normal pine trees really worked well in the areas where the snow was melting or hadnt fallen yet. The river was sitiuated in the middle of the map and contatined a large number of ice shelfs which was used for walking over and also so that when you used the transport ship it could go over them. Every single village looked wonderful and the use of GAIA items was perfect.
Story/Instructions: 5
The amount of Story behind this was ideal about beeing the son of a leader and having 2 highly respected brothers who would give anything for 'Brelda'. The instructions where spot on throughout the map however at some stages in the game i had a little trouble figuring out what i had to do. (Note i was a little hesitant to give you a 5 here but you did an excellent job translating most of the other stuff).
Additional Comments:
Probly one of the best Single RPG games i have downloaded and i hope you make the 2nd chapter as i was a little dissapointed to end after 5hours and 33Minutes playing. All in all this is a must download for all RPG fans.
Good job |

Playability: 5-
"Brelda the Hun" is possibly one of the most enjoyable RPGs/RPSs in the AoK heaven blacksmith, if not THE most entertaining one. However, what forced me to give it a 5- was the fact that the game was a bit overloaded with units, and that hurts computers with low RAM, such as mine, making the game not function at an appropriate speed. This was a mayor factor in my gaming experience, because sometimes it became very annoying. But besides that, I had a lot of fun playing this campaign. It was a nice challenge.
Balance: 5
I'll give balance a five since the game fits perfectly the description of the ideal balance: you may loose many times, but you know that if you done things slightly different you should win. In other words: a great challenge. I didn't find the outpost a problem, since it was only a choice for less-experienced players. I think that it actually helps to make the game more balanced for beginners who find the game TOO challenging.
Creativity: 5
Most aspects in the game where really creative. The side quests and main quests were mostly creative if not completely innovative. In my opinion, one of the most creative aspects was the story, since you don't see on any campaign a story told by a 12 years old boy (later 16).
Map Design: 5+
I talk for my own experience when I say that snowy terrains are one of the hardest terrains to design. This campaign is a perfect example of how should snowy sectors be designed, with an awesome use of terrain mixing, eye-candy and the appropriate trees. Really deserves the "+" here.
Story/Instructions: 5-
The story, as I said before, is one of the most creative aspects of the game, since it's told by a 12 years old boy and it REALLY seems as it was told by a boy (no offense intended). I really liked to see the character descriptions in the Scouts section, as it really helps you understand the world of Brelda. Concerning instructions, they were detailed and you didn't feel lost about what you have to do. However, I'm giving it a "5-" due to the problems with the translation, which was a bit poor in some parts. You must check everything again; there even were some parts without translation.
Additional Comments:
"Brelda the Hun" is the best RPG/RPS I've played, and it's a *must download* for every player, even if you aren't a big fan of the genre. Just ignore the translation which was poor sometimes and be a bit patient if you have a slow computer.[Edited on 01/30/07 @ 06:57 AM]

"The scenario is excellent" would be insulting. Having downloaded it, I spent all my time after college playing. I enjoyed ever aspect of the challenge of having one person.
Balance: 5
despite only having one person, the emphasis for all the battles was on positioning and strategy. I liked that. The days of sending your population limit of paladins are over, and quite rightly so. I myself am not the most skilled player, but I found it entertaining and challenging.
Creativity: 5
Despite names copied off the Atilla the Hun campain :p the detail included would have been impossible to make on the fly and shows brilliant talent in the planning. Good work S_M_T!
Map Design: 5
The map wasn't just a random generation like on I would use but a carefully crafted world designed to suit every situation. It is loaded with triggers and is quite frankly full of more variety than real life. An excellent creation that understandably took three years to make.
Story/Instructions: 5
With the introduction that was fairly long, but not long-winded, the player is left wondering what will happen. By the time Brelda has left the village, (which was about 20 minutes for me) you have seen a novels worth of story. Every action you could possibly take has an impact on the story as it unfolds.
Additional Comments:
Indescribably good. Worthy of a place on everyones hard drive. Particularly good during long winter nights when nothing good is on TV. Play and enjoy.[Edited on 11/23/07 @ 06:27 PM]

This scenario offered all elements necessary for a good little role playing game. An archer as a main character was an excellent choice, made the game simply more playable. I personally loved the wood/experience adding with each enemy kill and the changing Inventory status. Good effort to include a brain teaser.
Remark: Wish range also increased with each level up
Balance: 5
The game was almost 'too balanced', a couple of enemies more here or there would have made the game too hard or a few enemies less would have made it too easy. Level ups were obtained at just the right moment and health filling stations (monks) appeared more or less frequent enough.
Creativity: 5
Obstacles and challenges throughout the game were all thought out well and for the players amusement mostly unexpected, the pit trap made was REALLY unexpected. In my opinion, it needs a good creativity to give a centuries old occurrence those fine modern-life twists. The Red Bull part was the best :-)
Map Design: 5
Simply flawless, using a winter map gave the game a unique taste. Remarkable how all those different components, like Ghost Forests, settlements, caves, graveyards, churches and beautiful nature landscapes, were put together without distorting the image of the scape as a whole.
Story/Instructions: 4
What pity that eloquent English is absent from such a great game. The Instructions were just fine, sometimes too spoiling, but fine. I personally liked the idea of using the family member of an already famous character (Atila the Hun) as the main character.
Additional Comments:
Sincere thanks for your efforts, we all wish another great continuation of this already marvelous quest. Vielen Dank!
