Book II - Starfire Burning Upon The Ice-Veiled Throne of Ultima Thule (demo)

Version: The Conquerors 1.0c
Style: Mix
A mixture of role playing and strategy. Following episodes will include building as well!

If you enjoy a grand story, then this is for you, but if you are not interested in reading massive storylines, then forget about this one!

The vast armies of Mytos K'unn, marshalled by a sorceress of great power known as Zyrashana the Witch-Queen, had been cutting a swath through the Eastern Kingdoms since high summer the preceding year. Empowering her troops with great sorceries, she had seen all opposition fall before the ravening swords of her forces since the first bloody campaign; the invasion of the ancient and noble realm of Delania. The aftermath of the final battle had seen the systematic slaughter of the Delanian royal family, and the torture and execution of all those who had been loyal to their banner. During the ensuing months, more kingdoms and satrapies toppled before the might of Zyrashana's legions, commanded by the fearsome and unswervingly loyal battle-lord Talus Ebonfyre, a man of sublime brutality whom many beleived to be possessed by a demon-spirit from the dark realms. Emboldened by their victories and the expansion of their queen's dark dominion, the hordes of Mytos K'unn began the incursion into the lands of the Northern Tribes, beginning with the grim and brooding territories south of the Snow Kingdoms... the rugged homelands of the warlike clans which had been recently united into a strong realm by the powerful warrior-king Caylen-Tor, a man known to his allies and enemies alike as the Wolf of the North. Thinking the barbaric tribesmen little threat, the Witch-Queen intends a largely unopposed march through their lands to strike at the wealthy and fertile realms beyond the Mountain Kingdoms to the west... but Caylen-Tor has vowed that a searing torrent of blood and steel shall meet all those who deign to enter unwelcome or drive their standard unbidden into his land...

Just played. Your map design is rather good and the story is good though it seems to be excerpts from some book and altogether is too long to read anyway. It is rather easy because I won without finding any upgrades like blacksmith or hints about gold mines etc which I didn't understand and couldn't activate anyway.(played on hard difficulty) also on revealing the map using marco/polo I found a huge allied army of woad raiders which I could not get close to because the gates were locked.

Your campaign seems incomplete because in your hints you mention other heroes joining and upgrades but I never found any. By the way, you forgot to put the condition that you lose if Caylen-Tor dies because if you delete him you don't lose.

Edit: Sorry, I found out how to get the army of woad raiders. I'm pretty sure this would make the game even easier having an additional 30 E woad raiders.
Anyway excellent first attempt! probably better than mine.

Thanks for the comments, mate!

Like I posted in the beginning, that you'll need to read a lot to play this :) (Or well you don't NEED to... but what's the point then...)

Hmm... well, since this is only a demo, there might be some mistakes, but when I play if Caylen-Tor dies, you do lose... but I'll fix 'em all as I continue to advance in the creation of this full campaign.
morgoth bauglir Wasn't the land of Thule a nazi belief of ubermenschen or smth... nevertheless, great game!!!
cataphract_fan This is an okay game although there isn't much to it, such as only one side quest, etc.

One thing that got me annoyed was the large army that I had. If there's something I hate in custom made scenarios, it's that the maker gives me tons of soldiers in which I can't select all of them at once. I had to divide my force between units. I would suggest reducing the number of units, such as p1 having 5 paladins, 5 woad raiders, 5 champions, etc.

Also, the map design I thought was actually a strong part of the scenario--but it's the playability that hurts it. I thought it was a little bit easy, especially with the addition of woad raiders, and I wondered how long you playtested this scenario.

Good effort here, and remember, do NOT set triggers like this:

Condition: Object destroyed (selecting one of the two heroes in the game)

Effect: Declare victory: (enemy)

Once when I was playing I carelessly let the guy whose name started with "A" die (becauase there were too many units around him he couldn't move--another problem with large amounts of soldiers) and i was defeated instantly. It's better if you let the player have 15 seconds or so.
