Defence once more

Version: The Conquerors 1.0c
Pretty much the same as Celtic defence - but now I play Spanish. I manage economy (gold an wood) better in this game - maybe also because Spanish Blacksmith doesn't require gold... Therefore, I use no hussars to attack only paladins - because I can afford them and more champions rather than halberdiers... Have fun!

This recorded game plays with the 1.0c and 1.0B patch of The Conquerors Expansion.

Dantares IV You know, you might want to try the Tutons out. They have the most powerful units, and the strongest castles. Just a thought...

That is very true - thank you Mr. Dantares IV :) - but I wanted to stick with random civ and not benefit from some civ's defensive bonus - of course defense in the manner I play here cannot work with goths or huns (or other civs with no (fortified) walls if any)... I was thinking that Persians and Byzantines who also have very strong buildings and units may work for this kind of defensive play.

Thanks for the comment.
Dantares IV I would not advise the Persians. Though their War Elaphants are powerful, they are VERY slow, thus make them a prime target for 'hit-and-run archers. And they are also weak against Pikemen. I would HIGHLY advise the Bysantines though, their Cataphracts are absolutly AWESOME against infantry, even though, I am not sure how they would fare against Paladins.

LOL - Persians don't have fortified walls :). I played Persian in a game and I liked them because they had everything in the cavalry section (Paladin, Heavy Camel and bloodlines upgrade) and also have halberdiers which can be a pretty good defense against enemy cavalry - but I was forgetting the fortified wall detail :). I also don't think war elephants are that good a unit - when I play vs Persians I always have a few extra monks - and conversion is piece of cake - you can actually build an army with the enemy's elephants :)... So yes, I agree, it's hard to play this defense as Persian.
