The Lost Woods VERSION 2

Author File Description
File Details
Version: The Conquerors 1.0c
Style: Other
The Lost Woods
By the: CrazedManiac

The Lost Woods is a Maze really, where you must come and reclaim the Nine Bands from the Enemy Mordred. [I know in the game it says Bordred in everything else but it is really Mordred, so i made a few typos]

It is a hopefully challenging maze and you can easily get lost, so watch out. Just be easy on the feedback and gimme some helpful hints.

Thanks Jas The Mace, i know about the first boss, he is too hard....i am about to update this to version 2 which is hard but passable to a point when i had to end the maze and "LEVEL 1".

Thanks for the comment.

Oh, and the HP and Attack gain is because your a "Forest Warrior" and it is a "Forest" Which means you are in tune with nature which gives you attack and hp bonuses to rid the forest of the enemies.

Snaggles I liked this map, but I died at the Fredrick boss. I'm just gonna leave it for like, an hour while it's still on next time ;).

Not very good. There are hardly any challenging portions except the bosses... which are then too hard. I just stood at the area until I gained around 8000 HP and 1000 attack then even the bosses weren't a problem. The map is really plain , only bamboo on it. Well planned maze design though.
aok_lover I was the first to download this so sorry for the late comment :)

Its quite good actually but I have some suggestions for areas that could be approved. The whole map is bamboo, if you wanted it to be a forrest try using forrest, bamboo, and pine forrest. But like was previously said, well thoughtout map. And yes the bosses are a bit rediculous I died at the second one. Also you could fix up the continous gaining health and attack thing because it makes the came fairly easy.

But anyway nice job keep at it and I look forward to seeing an update ;)

Thanks to all that commented....

A new version is in testing right now, the level boss, the final level 1 boss, is freakin hard to beat which makes you think. this new version also has some pretty weird areas in it.

I'll tell you that using forest trees to place maze walls is hard and not recommended....had many errors there :)
Artifex The trick is to spend some time in the upgrade area until you have about 10000 HP and an Huge attack. The map is rather dull. Use some elevation, cliffs and dirt/leaves tec to make it a bit more interesting.

There is no trick, and that area was supposed to be removed....ahh well. The 1 min upgrade was too replace that.

A overhaul on everything or the release of version 2 will soon replace this one here. Unless you wish for me to keep version 1 and upload version 2 as something different.
Map Design2.0
Playability: 2
I should say at the start that I don't often play maze scenarios. With that disregarded, the game gave me a mildly entertaining 10/15 minutes, and there were no bugs. It wasn't exceptional or arresting, and had some significant flaws, detailed below.

Balance: 2
Much too easy. I won it quite easily on hard difficult at first time of asking, despite rarely playing mazes and tending to play on moderate in scenarios. It's a subjective category, but for balance, this teeters on a 1. I know you're doing a new version of this - I stress, most people would like to do more in the scenario than point their guy in the right direction and chomp things.

I would say that I probably did well because I spent a while sitting in the area with the monks gaining lots of attack and HP before I set off. If you don't want that to happen, you need to find a way to stop that.

Creativity: 2
There wasn't a lot of creativity I suppose. Some nice triggers adding A and HP, some disappearing walls...but nothing outstanding or original.

Map Design: 2
The map was quite poor. The maze plan has been carved out well enough, hence it's not a 1, and in fairness, effort had been made to put some sandy paths in the bamboo - but for looks it's dull, and you can see plain empty space all around the maze when you're standing near the edges. I don't even think the grass texture ever varied.

Story/Instructions: 4
There's a story, albeit a somewhat primitively developed one, the standard of English is good (something sorely lacking from many scenarios), the instructions seemed to be correct - the only issue as such was the recommendation on how to fight bosses - I found the correct way to fight them was to walk up and chop them up quickly, without any recourse to running away a bit when the hit points are low.

Additional Comments:
In tone I suppose this is a harsh-ish review. This is because I wish to underline the principal weaknesses of the scenario for correction in the next version. Best of luck with that.

thanks for the review. the grass thing in the next version will be fixed, along with the fact that there is elevation and a whole lot of weird things going on.
EDIT : Version 2 has replaced this file
