A scenario created by VonCorgath.

Greetings All.
The following is a scenario I created some time ago, around the same time that I produced the first incarnation of the Prologue to the Fellowship of the Ring.
What to expect.
In this scenario you will take control of the Fellowship, as they venture forth from the lush safehaven of the Elves in Imladris, into the wilderness of Eregion, on their quest to destroy the legendry One Ring, the Ring of Power created by Sauron in the fires of Mount Doom. You will command the Nine Companions, as they attempt to cross the cruel mountatin, Caradhras, until, forced by a storm sent by the Dark Lord, you retreat, and choose to take the paths through the Mines of Moria, now long under the command of the enemy. You must travel in secret, lest the servants of the Enemy pursue you and attempt to regain the Ring.
Does the scenario follow the book, or the movies?
The scenario is closely based upon the book. Large amounts of the text have been selected straight from the pages penned by Tolkien. Some parts have been omitted, such as the sightings of Gollum by Frodo, however others that have been left out from the movie, such as the attack from wolves in the wilderness, have been included, and you may be pleasantly surprised to find that the order of events is very close to that in the books. Of course I have added a few other things to try and make the scenario interesting, and though these be few, I shall leave them for you to find out.
I created this scenario a number of months before becoming a member of AoKH, and the trigger work and map design may in some parts, leave a bit to be desired. However this was created just for fun, and I hope that you will have the same fun as you play the scenario.
Unfortunately, I will not be continuing the series, the full details for this can be found in the readme document contained within your download.
The filesize is large, because of the many soundfiles that have been used, and I apologise for those who have slower connections. If you have taken the time to download this, I hope you will not be dissapointed.
Game Settings
Music Volume: 0 %
Sound Volume: 100 %
Graphics Detail: High
Screen Size: - This is not overly important. However I find 1024x768 to be the best size to play this scenario on. You are free to choose any screen size you wish.
The only setting I implore you to select is the game speed.
----------
Speed: Normal.

For installation instructions and other information, viewing of the Readme Moria.txt is a must.
Finally, if you have enjoyed this scenario, then look forward to the release of another LotR campaign in the works, the Lord of the Rings by BIHSting. It's sure to be a must for all LotR fans.
Comments very welcome.

Finally a GOOD lotr game. Of course I had enjoyed your prelude to the lotr as well. It really followed the book throughout. The caverns of Moria were really huge and expansive, though I would have liked seeing some more gold/stone mines, there were lots of dead ends and ways that lead to orcs but you were always notified. The only difficult part is the fight in the chamber of Mazarbul(I lost once in that). The inclusion of sounds from the LOTR movie made it greatly enjoyable.
The only thing that disappointed me a little was the Balrog. An elephant I suppose is a good representation of a balrog given the limits of aok, but Gandalf didn't even fight it! Unless you have seen the movie/book one will not understand why Gandalf dies shortly after the balrog... you should have given some narration such as 'the balrog's whip curled about Gandalf's leg' etc. Anyway on the whole it was an excellent effort.Good map design.

Hey, Sword_of_STORM.
It's good to see that others are enjoying what I had fun making. The Balrog was a tricky one. At the time I really had no idea what unit would look like a Balrog and the closest I could come up with was the elephant. I agree the whole Bridge of Khazad Dum section is a bit dodgey, but given my limited experience at the time I couldn't do better. It might have been a different story if I had done it recently. ;)

Well, the scenario was ubergreatness, if compared to the otha lotr scenarios here and a damn good one overall...
I'll try to be kinda critical... um... uhh... well, the bridge looked freaky... uuh....and I didn't understand, was it a bookbased or a moviebased (I'm very picky in that criteria), but the main clues hinted, that this was a bookbased...
One more thing: the conversation seemed sparse... I personally like everything or nothing dubbed...
No really, this scenario was a really good one!!! Download it now!!! |

When I got control inside of Moria, I coud not control Gimly. And, that was the end of that story. |

Thanks for the nice review ByZaN!
It's peculiar how these bugs are suddenly popping up that I had never experienced before. The Gate - if I remember rightly - is set to unlock as soon as you defeat the 'Great Orc' who comes in towards the end of the first fight in the Chamber of Mazarbul. The idea was that you have to defeat the first wave, and then run before the second wave attacks you.
True there is no history section, guess I never got around to that, though, being a .scx the only way to view that would be through the map editor's Messages tab.

Another strange bug that hasn't happened before. The price one pays for no playtesting I fear. Did you try it again? You should because you're coming to the some of the best parts. ;)

It is book-based, though I have only dubbed in the sections where the movie is the same as the book, though not all. Thanks for the constructive criticism.
Glad to see everyone is enjoying this. :) |

I intend to try it again, but, since I never saved the game before hand, I need to start from the beginning all over again. :( |

Hi,
Im a fan of the Lord of the Ring story so I really enjoyed playing your Moria scenario.
I especially like that you combined short sounds (and musics, which sometimes was heart breaking)from the film with your scenario. It makes the story come alive.
Question: Did you build the scenario to fitt in with the Middle Earth modpack? Because if you use the Middle Earth modpack you will get real orcs instead of pikemens.
Error: I hade some problems with error in the game. When I entered the mine entirely suddenly enemy patrols from all the map walked right toward the fellowship, which wasnt a pleasant surprise:) I then noticed that you´ve forgot to change the enemies AI to immobile.
/But the musics, map design, and time syntax with the sounds are the things that makes all the errors in the scenario to blanch into shadows. Well done!
