Instalación
Instalation
If the installator fails, extract the [ .cpx ] file to folder:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Age of Empires II\Campaign or the folder
where AoK is installed
Extract the [ .MP3 ] files to folder:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Age of Empires II\Sound\scenario or the
folder where AoK is installed
Then, start The Conquerors, select Single Player / Custom Campaign, and select
Wolfcastle II in the list.
FAQ
- Pregunta: ¿Que necesito para jugar?
- Respuesta: Necesitas el AoK y su expansión The Conquerors.
Recomendada la versión 1.0b o la 1.0c. Con versiones anteriores
puede que tengas problemas, especialmente al final.
- Question: What do I need in order to play?
- Answer: You need AoK and The Conquerors. (1.0b or 1.0c version
recommended). If you have problems at the end of the scenario (specially
when you have the tank), then update your AoK.
- Q: What do I need in order to see the new units as tanks, planes, etc.?
- A: You have to download the Mod Pack and have Mod
Pack Studio or Mod Installer installed.
Simplemente
añade realismo al juego. No influye PARA NADA en la jugabilidad.
Aún así lo recomiendo...
- Q: I don´t wanna download the Mod ´cause / I am to damn lazy / my connection
is very slow / I am paranoid / , etc., Can I still play?
- A: Yes, no problem. If you play without mod, you will only notice
that the tank, the APC and the plane is a little bit strange, nothing
else. Then, if you play with the mod, you will be surprised about all
the details it has. Simply put, the Mod adds realism to the game, yet
it doesn´t modify the playability. However, I recommend to play
with it...
básico de Age of Kings.
- Q: Whassup, when I play a random map or another scenario with the mod pack the game
looks weird...
- A: The mod wasn´t made to play another scenario or a RM,
but to play Wolfcastle II. Wolfcastle´s world is a mix of the Middle
Ages and nowadays, and I made both Wolfcastle I and Wolfcastle II with
that purpose. In any moment I wanted to do a total conversion mod. The
only purpose of it was to add realism to the scenario, but with Age of
Kings´engine. So please, use the mod only to play this scenario!
- Q: Your scenario is plent of gramatical and spell mistakes!
- A: Yah, I know it. My English isn´t very good, and it was very complicated for me to translate the scenario from Spanish to English, specially ´cause almost all the dialogues were in slang.
I tried to do the minimum number of mistakes, but the translation isn´t perfect. AnastasiaKafka and the other testers helped me a lot, but in a scenario with 850
triggers is really difficult to correct them all! At least I hope it´s understable...
- ¿Aparece Osama
Bin Laden en el escenario?
- Por supuesto que sí!!
-Q: Does Osama Bin Laden appear?
- A: Yes, of course!
- Q: Does it have mature content and explicit violence that may be upsetting to
younger viewers?
- A: Yes, just as playing a game that consists of killing your enemy with
sword and arrows, and murdering innocent villagers should. :)
- ¡Tu escenario
suiza y empiezo a aceptar donativos...
- Q: The scenario is great! It rocks! You are my idol! How can I repay you?
- A: I have opened a secret Swiss Bank account to avoid any ES royalties.
1 a 80 segundos).
- Q: What if I have problems with the Audio? It crashes / mix / etc.
- A:
* Be sure the MP3 files are in the Sound/Scenario folder.
* If you play on high speed and you never pause the game, perhaps the
music
will mix a little bit.
* Remember that when you stop the music, you must wait until the file
ends.
Music will stop when competed (1- 80 seconds).
* And of course, be sure you have turned off the original game music!
- Q: The game has a terrible lag! The screen goes black / multicolor / and I have
to restart the computer! What can I do to correct this?
- A: This scenario is very complex, so I recommend you to have a
powerful PC with loads of RAM. If the lag continues, try playing without
the Mod Pack and save your game with the music off. Finally, if you deactivate
the music altogether, the game will go much faster.
- ¿Has hecho tu solito el escenario?
- Así es. Yo solito!
- Q: Did you design the scenario alone?
- A: Yes, I have designed it exclusively. However I must thank, all
the Testers for their invaluable support, and special thanks to Josef
Bugman for his incredible designs in the Mod Pack (the nuclear reactor
and the skyscraper), and to Anastasia for translating the text messages.
NOTES: I took the plane from the Boeing web page. Additional Mods were
designed by me... .
- ¿Cuanto es la
raiz cúbica de 125?
- 5. Pero eso no viene a cuento.
- Q: How much is the cubic root of 125?
- A: Use a calculator!
- Q: I don´t understand the story, and I am confused! What am I to do?
- A: You must pay close attention to the dialogue, as the adventure
story exist primarily in the game. It is of vital importance to follow
the story, as unlike other scenarios the instructions and hints for what
to do next is there in the game plot.
http://latinaok.cjb.net
- Q: I have a web site and I wanna put your scenario in. Please, can I?
- A: Of course! Although, please, put the complete scenario WITHOUT
CHANGES, and be sure to include all the files! Please, If possible, put
a link to the LTD site. ;)

When I saw Wolfcastle 2 in the Blacksmith, I thought it was a parody, or the typical silly scenario. After reading the description page I had to change of idea, though. How was possible to deactivate car bombs or launch an assault with SWAT squads in Age of Kings? It seemed impossible to me... until I played Wolfcastle 2.
In this scenario you are a kind of corrupt policeman, and you have to go into some terrorist attacks, until you archieve your goal and kill Krusty, head of the terrorist organization.
Playability - 5.
The first ten minutes aren´t too exciting: you have to reach Hoover´s presence on board of your brand new Ferrari; then he explains you the situation. After that, the action starts: you have a few minutes to kill the terrorists that have seized the nuclear power station called "The Rock", before a meltdown is produced. The time is tight, and there´re lots of stuffs that get you more nervous: you have to escort the hostages to the bunkers, there´s a message that say "Nuclear explosion detected in 60 seconds", a hornet, etc... I got the adrenalin going! The next mission was a race against the clock too. And (wov) you had to use your grey matter! There were 6 random puzzles: each time you played, a diferent one appeared. It made me remember the movie "DieHard", because it was exactly the same: solve the riddle and go to the place where the bomb is, and deactivate it. Simply great!
The following 30 minutes of the scenario are like the typical RPG. You have to walk along paths until you arrive the place you have to investigate. However, there are loads of raiders and criminals that will try to pass you away...
The plot is really good, and if you are interested and you follow the dialogues, the scenario grabs you, like a movie...
Then, there are more "sidequests": you have to launch an assault using your police squads, then you must scape using an APC from the enemies´basement, isolate the radioactive plutonium modules, etc.
And among that, the raiders bothering you!
This scenario reaches you out all time, specially if you pay attention to the storyline: you enjoy it more.
The only negative point here is the lag... SOMETIMES it is a bore... however, this scenario has more than 700 triggers (I think), a very complex map design, and in my Pentium 500 with 64 Mb Ram almost all the scenarios have a terrible lag; and if you turn off the music and play without the mod, it goes much, much better (sometimes there´s no lag!). I don´t think I should take points off because of this.
Balance - 5.
This scenario isn´t easy. Really it´s very difficult. Basically because it´s very long and if you don´t save often, when you pass away you will wish kill yourself :p
I played in the most difficult level: it was a challenge! I had to load 4 times before beat the first mission. So I changed to the easiest difficulty level. It was much better and I only had to load once in all the scenario.
I liked this point: you can try a real challenge or play with normal difficulty.
The riddle part was a little bit different: I had to pause the game and think 15 minutes before solving! I really liked it because it forces you to use the brain...
The raiders are regenerated after some minutes, so if you have to go back, the path isn´t clear (hehehe).
There are ambushes, fights, and the sidequests make you sweat, but you always complete them without too many problems. I think it deserves a 5.
Map Design - 5.
Speechless. It is really complex and wonderful, plent of eye candies. The cities aren´t too realistic (compared to the real ones) because of the flowers, but we must take into account that it´s a fictional world where the modern world mixes with the medieval one. The result is great, and it´s a real pleasure to see it.
The city had all kind of facilites: libraries, malls, a council, police station, impound, discos, a equine club, airport, a military basement, a nuclear power station... and they were extremely realistic!
The forests are great, with all kind of savage life. Fantastic...
Creativity - 5.
What can I say? You must play it in order to notice all the details it have. The sidequests are great, the plot is worth a movie script, there are lots of (bad) jokes that make you laugh, the facilities are great and each one have a purpose of being in the scenario. More than perfect. You must see it, I cannot explain it with words.
Story and instructions - 5.
The storyline is marvellous. The diference with other scenarios, where all the story is given in the instructions screen, and then the game is only a battle or a part of the story, consists that in Wolfcastle 2 the plot is ON the game. The instructons screen shows you a little biography of Wolfcastle. All the plot pass during the scenario; it changes as your character investigate and collect hints. It is really original and imaginative; there´re many surprises and traitions.
The instructions and goals are clear and easy to understand. Extra objectives are shown: biography of your agents, of your friends and enemies, objects you have collected, theories of the case, and a long etc.
The only problem I have seen is that there are some mistakes... they aren´t serious: almost all of them are idiomatic expressions. The author´s first tongue isn´t English, so he has done an excellent job trying to imitate the English slang. It´s perfectly understable and the mistakes are minor.
====
What can I say in conclusion? I am not exaggerating, this is the best (and the most original) scenario I have ever played. Loads of action (that will get your adrenalin going), bad jokes and a marvellous plot can define Wolfcastle 2.
I do recommend this download. Perhaps you won´t find it so interesting, specially if you don´t like RPGs; if you don´t want a good plot, that grabs you until the end, if you need action and blood and violence and more blood and kill kill kill and more blood without story -and more blood :p, then don´t download it. But if you want a complete scenario, a long one plent of quality and a magnificent script, download it. You´ll enjoy Wolfcastle 2 - The Silence of the Clowns.
**Mod Pack**
I shouldn´t include the mod in this review, but I´ll do it :p
When I saw the description page, with the screens, I said "Wov..." but when I read "Optional Mod Pack" I said "HAHAHAHAHA Please, the scenario won´t be the same without mod...". How wrong I was!
Using AoK engine, Andres_age has done a wonderful job recreating modern facilities. The result is great. I played first without mod, and I found it fantastic. The only weird vehicles were the tank and the plane... (a scorpio and a trebuchet). Taking into account AoK possibilities, it is almost perfect.
So I decided to play with the mod...
Again, WOV... The plane and the tank were a plane and a tank ;) but there were loads of extra details! The SWAT squads were more realistic, the nuclear reactor was different, and there were traffic lights and restaurant terraces in the city (without mod I didn´t notice them!). Skycrapers, new vehicles... a new world of possibilities. However the mod doesn´t replace all the buildings... only some of them. But instead of making it weirder, it makes the game more fascinating!
Without mod you will enjoy the scenario. With mod, you will live the scenario! :D
The best of the scenario:
- All?
The worst of the scenario:
- Hmmm let me think... (half an hour after) perhaps less lag... :p |

Hmmmm. Not a bad scenario at all, although a bit crazy :P.
Playability: Good, but there were some problems. The main one was lag. It was as if I were playing multiplayer... I would give a unit a command and it would take a few seconds to respond. The only other problem was with the re-appearing "bad-guys". I would clear them out with my strong units and go back and spread out and all-of-a-sudden I would be surrounded by them again. It got pretty annoying. But, the ideas and missions were great, so I give it a 3.
Balance: OK. Some parts were a bit tough, such as the nuclear explosion and "get the reactor thingies with Rajoy" parts. I had to play those over and over and just luckily would find the answer after many times. But mostly, the balance was pretty good, so I think it deserves a 3.
Creativity: Awesome! Never ever would I have imagined that someone would do this with AOK. When I saw it in Best of AOK, I decided to download it, but was a bit doubtful of all those claims in the description. When they came true, I was amazed! The mod pack was awesome, must have had a lot of work put into it. The mix of old and new was creative, too. Definitely a 5
Map Design: Great! The map was well done, with absolutely no empty space. Must have taken a lot of work. A lot of eye candy, in fact, a bit too much, which was basically the only detraction. Overall, it gets a 5.
Story/Instructions: Good. I never got truly lost, but sometimes I would find myself mindlessly walking around looking for something that I was supposed to find, but there weren't very clear directions for. But, most of the instructions were clear, and the story was great. (It even made me laugh, something an AOK scenario hasn't done before!) I think this should get a 4. |

At last I've reviewed one of my personal favourite campaigns, Wolfcastle II - The Silence of the Clowns
Wolfcastle II is about agent Jehf Wolfcastle, his wife Rita and his three agents to command Johnon, Jack Scully and Faifmen, in an extraudinary, unusuall and well written, comical one-scenario campaign, one of the best ever made.
Playability: 5
I highly enjoyed this campaign. It was unique, had an all new theme with SWAT forces and modern battles, hippies and bombs. It quickly overran my wildest imaginations, and I was stuck from the beginning to the end, almost 4 hours of gaming. Playing this is simply a time of neverending pleasure and laughter, stress and sweat, summary a great experience, one of the few campaigns that really has glued me to the seat. With that said, I hope you all see why I gave this a 5
Balance: 5
The balance in the campaign is outrageous. Its really hard even on standard, and the whole campaign is really challenging. You really have to think hard of what to do, as in the last part with the tank. It took me over 10 tries to get it to work. I wont tell you how, as its the point to make it up yourself and feel so proud for getting the idea!
There are some places that might be frustratingly hard, but when you're done you just feel relief, and soon you're thrown right into a new carbomb or specialeffect again, and you will soon forget the rage.
Therefor, a clear 5
Creativity: 5
I've never seen anything like Wolfcastle before. Never
The whole campaign and idea is unique and the use of the original AoK units and buildings combined with the new pictures is fantastic. Its one of the smartest campaigns and stories ever made into a campaign. The carbombs, viking statues, embassies, skyscrappers and loads of creative aspects, all mixed topgether under this unique and laughter-warning story. The use of Bombard Cannons as TV cameras, lawnmowers and fueltrucks for airplanes made me think "How come I didn't get this idea before" and just stare in wonder
Its simply perfect. Another strong 5
Map Design: 5
The map might look a little bare in a few places, such as the park in the beginning and the Square. But it only makes it realistic. A secret police doesn't want weed and flowers everywhere in their HQ? Right? Therefor it just looks better.
When it comes to the city, that covers the most of the map, its simply great. It really looks like a modern city, but with a medieval touch and feeling of it all.
The forests outside the city looks great, with mixed trees, weeds and flowers and elevations makes a perfect sense and feeling. The airport and indoors scenes where pretty flat and plain, but hey, its meant to be realistic, and so it is. VERY realistic.
Therefor another 5
Story/Instrcutions: 5
As I've mentioned before, the story is really well written and full of surprises and laugh-attacks. The story in whole is totally unique with its concept and humouristic style, and the jokes. They follow the game from beginning to the end, even before the actuall game starts and in the aftermaths. Even the readme has jokes.
The only thing that made me irritataed a few times was when the text wasn't translated and was still in spanish and I just understood half of it. But well, it didnt damage the gaming itself, only that it looked weird.
Summary:
Its not often that I give a 5.0 rating, and I try to be as hard as possible. But this time I couldn't do anything else Wolfcastle II is one of the greatest campaigns ever made!
If possible, I would beg that Andres would make a sequel, but I'm afraid that he wouldn't hear me, nor would he make it as he propably had used all ideas in the II. Its packed with creative ideas and stuff.

'Wolfcastle 2 - The Silence of the Clowns' is a great RPG by Andres_age which is set in the modern world, yet retaining the units and characteristics of the mediavel world of AoK. It is the only such game I have seen to have effectively represented police, cars, terrorists and other things with the limitations of the Aok Editor. It is easily amongst the greatest campaigns of Aok.
Playability: 5
I enjoyed this campaign thoroughly. Once I started, I immediately got hooked to the game, and played it for 6 hours non stop forgetting about my assignments, dinner etc , it is that engrossing. Every time you solve a puzzle or avert a disaster, something new happens and you have to rush headlong into it. It takes a long time to finish every part, because it is hard. But then when you finally finish it, the satisfaction is really worth it and after a short explanation of the story you get rightaway into another part of the game. The whole game is filled with many totally new experiences.. a nuclear reactor, car bombs, discoes, airports, SWAT teams to name a few.
The only parts which annoyed me a bit were the respawning 'Talibans and raiders', but again, they only helped to keep you on the edge throughout the scenario. There was also a game crash because of a change view effect after the snipers shoot at them at the sheriff's shack, which I averted by changing speed to slow and changing view manually. However needless to say the plus points of this game so highly overshadow these bugs that I can truly not give it less than 5, as it is indeed a great experience.
Balance: 5
I played this scenario on hard difficulty and found it really difficult, requiring no less than 50 reloads (I counted!) Many of the parts were difficult and you got stuck there but after thinking for a while and trying different approaches you could get through it. This to my mind is an ideally balanced scenario, when a player gets stuck, but he knows that it's possible to complete the objective if only he did something a little differently. I had to reload every major part , and found some places like the APC escape and recovering the plutonium modules at the end especially difficult, and played some of them on slow speed, requiring a great deal of micro management. The Talibans and raiders were a constant nuisance especially in one part I only had horse archers and I had to get rid of an onager. But thankfully a 'hospital' was provided for healing. The puzzles which appear are great too, and solvable. A clear 5 here.
Creativity: 5+
Absolute brilliance. It is hardly possible to exaggerate how extremely creative this scenario is. A great story about policemen and terrorists and spies and governments all come alive in the Aok world. The choice of units and buildings make everything believable even without the mod. It is the only realistic depiction of the modern world in Aok and it does so really admirably. Nuclear reactors, tow trucks, cars, tanks what more could you ask. With the mod, it is much better, the plane and tank look like a plane and a tank. The storyline is extraordinarily creative, easily as good as a movie. The sounds included really enhance the feel of the game, you feel as if you are really in a movie.
Map Design: 5
It isn't easy do design cities in Aok. However in this game, the author has done an admirable job of it. The city and it's surroundings were highly realistic, included an airport, snowy regions ,a disco, police stations, nuclear power plants, equinine club, all of which looked great. The forests and grassy spaces were well done with terrain mixing and elevations. The flowers made the city a bit unrealistic, but there are lots of other eye candy like statues etc. Overall excellent.
Story/Instructions: 5+
As I said before, the story plotline is excellent, well worth the trouble of reading it thoroughly. It is totally unique and original, worthy of a movie script. You don't know who's your enemy or ally, or who you are really working for. The story takes surprising turns almost everywhere, and the humorous jokes included everywhere make it all the more enjoyable. It features a bit of political satire too, which is not there in many games. In most games, it seems as if the story was invented for the scenario, here, the scenario was made for the story.
The instructions/objectives were very clear and included lots of extra things like the inventory of things you are carrying, clues/hints, about the various characters and their personalities. The only annoying thing was that a few sentences were still in Spanish, but it didn't affect gameplay.
Additional Comments:
I don't often give a 5.0 review, but this game truly deserves to be amongst the VERY BEST in Aok. It is really one of the best campaigns ever made.

Wolfcastle 2: The Silence of the Clowns is a unique scenario created by Andres_age which combines the medieval setting of AOK with modern concepts such as cars, tanks, nuclear power and soldiers. The scenario comes with it's own Mod Pack to add these modern units into the game. The Mod is recommended to be used alongside the scenario but is not necessary.
Playability: 4
I found Wolfcastle to be a highly enjoyable campaign, packed with alot of creativity and humour. The action is adrenalin pumping and keeps you on the edge of your seat. There are a number of different missions ranging from puzzle-solving, to RPG style gameplay, to fixed force assaults. The scenario was highly enjoyable and the novelty of the Mod Pack and humours dialogue just made it more enjoyable. There's something for everyone in this scenario. However, there is a problem with lag in the scenario, mainly due to the scale of it and maybe the mod Pack might also have something to do with it. The lag makes the game difficult to play, especially during missions that are against the clock and when there is lots of walking involved. Another thing that got annoying was the fact that alot of the map reveals never got removed after they were created which to me was annoying.
Balance: 4
The game was very well balanced. There were alot of challenges in it, but ultimately I found it to be on the easy side. I don't think I had to restart much, and the only times I did have to restart was due to a lack of understanding the objectives. I found the hardest parts were the missions that were against the clock, as I didn't know where I was going so I had to search for it, and by the time I found it the time had run out. Some more hints or clearer instructions would have helped with this. Other than that I found the balance to be quite good, just rather easy for me.
Creativity: 5
Without a doubt Wolfcastle 2 is a very creative scenario, if not one of the most creative scenarios in the AOKH Blacksmith. This is the first, and probably only scenario to be set in the modern age, equipped with modern buildings, tanks, and other modern concepts. The Mod Pack allows for this modern concept to come fully to life by adding modern graphics like tanks, buildings, electric street lamps, and other bits and bobs. Its certainly possible to play this scenario without the Mod Pack as alot of what makes it unique comes through in the humorous dialogue and clever trigger tricks, but I would recommend playing with the Mod Pack is possible. There are many ideas that come out of this modern concept that has been done even without modded graphics and that's what makes this scenario so clever. Overall there is probably nothing as creative as this around.
Map Design: 4
Wolfcastle is built on a very pretty map, which is mostly covered by a large city. I found that the map design was well above average and shows clear knowledge of how to use the editor. However, I found that the map seemed quite bare in a lot of places and unattractive to the eye in other places. The city lacked terrain mixing, making it look boring and bland, and the buildings seemed to be clumped together and more effort could have been put into their placing. Narrow streets between some of them would have looked good. The new graphics from the Mod are quite different from the graphics of AOK but somehow still seem to fit in well and you don't seem to question them. The map showcases the creative concept of blending medieval and modern together. The better part of the map design was definitely the outside of the city which showed more ses of terrain mixing and use of GAIA eye-candy. The outlines of the forest bushes scattered around the map were unpleasing to the eye and I was not a fan of them as they looked as though they were randomly placed without thought.
Story/Instructions: 5
Wolfcastle has a plot that seems to come straight out of a film. I focuses of Jefh Wolfcastle, a corrupt police officer whose tasked to track down the terrorist clown known as Krusty. The plot is very funny and the dialogue is well written. There are a few typos and spelling errors but these can be forgiven as English is not the authors first language. The story has twists and turns as you solve the puzzle and work out the location of Krusty whilst not really understanding who your real friends or enemies actually are. The story is excellent. The instruction suffer a little as I have said before, lacking clarity in places, but it is nothing that is worth detracting the score for. Overall Wolfcastle has an epic, well written and extremely funny story, that parodies much of modern culture, whilst incorporating a medieval style at the same time.
Additional Comments:
It's important to note that the Mod Pack for Wolfcastle has been uploaded as a separate file to the Blacksmith, with a link given at the top of the page. However, being an old scenario the Mod Pack was released as an AKX file. Using Genie Converter by Vardamir it is now possible for anyone to install this Mod Pack and play this wonderful game again.
I recommend this scenario along with it's Mod Pack. Download it now!
Thanks
