DUNGEONS OF KRIMSTAD
It is a dark time for the city of Berwick. The King's daughter, Princess Riana, was kidnaped during a Viking raid. The Vikings demand a heavy price for her safe return and treatened that they would kill the princess, if the King were to send his armies. Now King Edgard, ruler of Berwick, summons his best soilder in hopes to plan a rescue mission for the princess....
This is a short scenario I made to show off some of the new tricks that I developed with SWGB. The biggest of all is the Ai-Heal trick, where you collect Forage Bushes to recieve a Health Point and then type in "1" to use the Health Point and restore your character's HP. I've also added a Boss Battle where you must stay within the Boss' minumum range while attacking him in order to defeat the Boss. I have developed other features as well with SWGB, but most of which are hard to recreate without having certain items in the SWGB editor. I included the AI and scenario file with the campaign. I hope these tricks can be of use to any scenario designers for AoK. |

The Dungeons of Krimstad
By: The Vampire Slayer
The Kings daughter, Princess Riana has been captured in a Viking raid and is being held hostage for a large sum of money. In this campaign you take the role of Lugana Reinheart who was summoned by King Edgard, Ruler of Berwick to go to The Dungeons of Krimstad and rescue his daughter.
Throughout this campaign you battle the fierce guards of Krimstad and finally your own brother.
Playability: I found this campaign very enjoyable, you travel through some lovely snow terrain along with going inside the beautifully made dungeon. The interesting and new idea of traveling through a dungeon made it even more enjoyable. This scenario was almost bug free, until you defeated your final enemy, then you came to a bug which did not allow you to finish the campaign, which is very hard to achieve using a taunt AI as this campaign. Therefore I give the Playability a 4.
Balance: This campaign had excellent balance, one of the best balanced creations I have played. You battle many dungeon guards, which are not possible to kill without use of the “Health Bushes”. Possibly the greatest factor in the balance was the final battle, even if you gather all the “Power Ups” you can’t just sit there and let the computer do the work you must stay on the move or you will most certainly be killed. After two reloads I beat the final boss with a meager 13 life. For balance I give a 5.
Creativity: The new idea of navigating a dungeon, the “Power Ups”, use of the Taunt AI and “Health Bushes” on top of that the strategy used to defeat the final enemy gave this work great creativety. For these reasons I award a 5, great work!
Map Design: I found the map design to be very good but it could be better. The dungeon looked awesome nice use of gates, the map copy object “TWAL” and torches. The down point of the terrain was the snow, there was a mix of forage bushes and flowers which gave it an un-realistic feel, but it is still well above average. Try using some cliffs, rocks, and a melting snow object found in some eye-candy templates. In this category I give a 4.
Story/ Instructions: The little introduction before the start of playing, set you up perfectly the story was very clear and easy to follow. The objectives were set up perfectly; I was never confused on what to do or where to go. On top of this the great hints made it almost impossible to become confused or wonder what is going on or what to do. The Vampire Slayer has show excellent work in his description of what to do, how to do it, and finally his ability to portray a story for such a short scenario. A 5 for this category!
If you are looking for a great RPG, you have found one. This is certainly a must Download.
My compliments to the author for a great piece of work.
Overall: 4.6

Wow, a 4.6. I only whipped up this scenario to give designers a few ideas, since I'm doing similar scenarios with SWGB, but only 5 times better (if not more) than this scenario. I made this scenario in one day, yes you heard right, ONE DAY. More acurately, just a few hours. I really didn't expect this scenario to get reviewed. Anyway, thanks for your review Dark_Warrior_1_.[Edited on 10/30/05 @ 05:35 PM]

No Problem. The thing is a scenario can't get rated down for being short and especially if it is good.
Quoted from Spiney in review guidlines-"First is the length of a scenario, or how many scenarios are included in a campaign. There is no rule that says a scenario must last more than 15 minutes or that a campaign must include at least 3 scenarios. The scores should only reflect how good the scenario was while it was being played. A great 5 minutes should score much higher than a mediocre 2 hours. No reduction in score should be made based on the length of a scenario."-and that fits this scenario perfectly!
I hope my review was ok, as it was only my second.

How did you get the Sea Gates? I know they are in onee of the Hun scenarios in the Conquerorrs, but how did you get them into your scenario? |

Nice idea, but a bit tedious waiting for him to heal each time. Nice try. |
