DtS07 Adventure Series VIII The Horde

Author File Description
Jas the Mace1
File Details
Version: The Conquerors
Style: Other
The Horde of the Great Khan approaches!!!

You play as five mercenaries paid to build up, then defend the main valley into the city.
Several short cut-scenes!
Allied help!
Free suicide troops!
Victory is achieved with your final retreat, the kill total is your goal. My best, 676 kills.
First map I've submitted with a bitmap and sound files...Hope it adds to it!

That was mighty fun, Jas! I loved this map, aswell as all Defend the Spot maps. However, I found some weak points.

Playability: 4-
This scenario was quite fun! I loved the valley-defence contest, I have been playing with that kind of scenario also ;) No bugs were found, however, sometimes the valley was too small for me and other yellow guys blocked the path. That was a very bad point, and killed my Sir Guy :(

Balance: 4
The balance was quite good, however the first line was very hard to keep while the last defence was very strong. At other points, everything was perfectly balanced. A strong 4 for this one.

Creativity: 4
This map was not very creative, however it contained some quite suprising elements like "suicide" armies which spawn on the road and you can follow Ghenghis Khan's progress to your lines. Also funny you used sounds from the old campaigns.

Map Design: 4-
The map design was quite good, but sometimes a bit boring. Pine trees were sometimes mixed with very green trees, which is not bad, but than you suddenly see a totally black tree next to them. Of course, it is possible that a lightning burned the tree, but that's not very likely :P

Story/Instructions: 4-
The story of Ghenghis Khan is historical and deserves a 4 at least. The reason why I didn't give this a five is the lack of background information. I quite missed that. The instructions also were not too clear.

Additional Comments:
A quite good scenario, but not an addictive must-play. However I recommend downloading it, just once.
