Syrini's Defeat

Download File Post Review Post Comment
Author File Description

File Details
Version: The Conquerors
Style: Mix
Syrini.........Syrini..........Syrini.............we would
give anything to defeat this unknown attacking tribe. They hurt us, and they kill us. They torch our huts, our yurts, and our houses. They even torch our sacred temples.

From the diary of a random Samurai from the Sangh Empire.
This particular Samurai has had his family killed by Syrini.

Travel through the Meeri forest full of attacking wolves, or get attacked by the Sung-Jino or Syrini itself. The Sangh Empire would do or give anything to rid itself of Syrini.

A nice playing game with a few hidden features , not sidequests ,more a quriosity treat.
The story is simple and easy to follow ,as are the instructions. There is no hero, so you
don't have to be protecting someone all the time. There is one surprise in the game i wasn't
expecting , and i was sort of dissapointed with until i found out a little latter that it was
suppose to happen ,,a point up for creativity. I did not receive the victory signal when i defeated the enemy , i killed all the horses and destroyed the buildings ,perhaps i missed someone or something.

PLAYABILITY :The games balance had a lot to do with its being fun ,it wasn't perfect yet it
wasn't redicilously hard or easy. The trek through the forest was nice with the wolves
nipping at your heals ,and nipping , and nipping ,, got a bit much , i would suggest
cutting back on events such as those ,as monoteny will slowly kill a otherwise good game.

BALANCE: The games overall balance is rather good ,, leaning a bit on the easy side ,, but
that may be my standards ,as i like a hard winable game, so i will go easy on the author, but
wiLL deduct a bit for the last battle which started out like lion , and finished suddenly like a lamb.
Perhaps the author could have improved this score by reducing my population. I started out
with 25 , but then jumped to 110 ,which is a little much for what i had to encounter at the last battle

CREATIVITY: The unexpected and unpleasant surprise which i didn't like ,*chuckles* deserves
an additional point. Nice,, .The last battle had a really interesting map layout. The authors
borrowed template made for a nice entrance , that added to the realistic feel of the game.

MAP DESIGN: The map is well layed out , and a bit better than a random one. There is no trail through the forest part ,so expect to see lots of wolves. Make sure you explore it well if you want to find all that it offers.

STORY / INSTRUCTION : This would have been a 4 if it weren't for the dialogue flashing by so
fast. A few times the instruction sound was bloup, bloup, bloup, bloup. i found myself using
the "horn" button too many times , and if my ally was paying tribute at the same time ,i
lost the message. THe author lacked a bit in this aspect , and could have play test a
a bit more.

Overall i would reccomend this game .
laz123 Excellent game. Thanks.
