Please keep in mind that this is my first *real* program that I've written. It's not the fastest program, but it should run fast enough. If it seems to not be responding, give it a few minutes. Some things (saving mostly) make it seem unresponsive. This is normal and is no cause for alarm. If you get any unknown errors or have any questions, please post them in the Advanced Genie Editor thread (link provided above). I may not answer right away, but you should get an answer in a few days. It may take time for me to find the answer to your question.
The current version uses the loading cursor now, as well as saying whats going on in the status area (bottom left part of the window).

Yea, I dont want to end up in such an standard formatted review. ;)
It's because that TechEdit became much more then that!
This program surpasses geniedt on all areas ;)
Now to the point:
This program has an realy quick easy and handy interface though.
Also, this program has the amazing possibility to add and remove data from the unitdata file.
This program includes incredibly handy buttons like cut copy paste move replace replace all, and much more like that stuff.
As I said before, this program is fast and easy to use, and savely creates backup of all used files, so that you can recover them.
Exept on that the tool chrashes if I click to load all aok files, all goes well, and I dont blame this, because you didnt got that far yet to make full support for all other games.
This program allows streight access to almost every part of the unitdata file, and drs files that are now supported. As i am writing this review, were deeping in on how to let the program work to edit terrain structures, all though that it is possible to add or remove terrains, it will never be possible to add them to the mapeditor allthough
But i gurantee, if this feature is ready, its an GOD-Tool. ;)
Yea the install goes a bit rough, if you dont know where to place the files if you dont know where to install them.
Yea its awesome how you have put so incredibly much functionality in such an small userinterface, this makes it realy handy
This is only personal, but future Total conversions of this game will take less time and space, so it ables us to make more easily incredible mods.
By giving me the latest release yet, I was planning to resume my lost Age of Aristocacy project.
I am helping stbs with this program to find out new unit data structures, and other testing stuff.
STBS: Im offering you that I am going to make an installation wizard made in installshield 2008 Pro to solve this. I will ask it on msn soon btw.

The latest version includes many changes...I will change my review to support the latest changes
I cannot open the 1.7 Genie editor version. It says the program not responding or app is error.
The Advanced Genie Editor 1.7 is not working under Win98SE !
Recommendable for Win98SE is A.G.E. 1.6 !!!

For those of you having trouble with 1.7, I have uploaded 1.6 as well.
Also, please do not post comments here as I do not check this as often as the thread (I only check here every few weeks or so).

It works in Vista too. I already try it.
Edit: Even Windows Vista cannot open the 1.7 Genie Editor not respponding, maybe i just use 1.4 (old version) or 1.6 Genie Editor. Only 1.4 cannot open "empire_x1" without expansion.
I already resreach 1.7 and 1.6 genie editor. My Computer is not 16-bit computer (2000/98/95). but why 1.7version always not responding!?

how do you work and download it
i put it in the data file but when i open the editor nothing is on it
Can some one walk me through on how to use this?
I extracted all the files to the data folder, but every time I open the editor everything is blank, why does this happen?

This is awesome program! Thank thou who continue releasing new versions!
But there is some things that needs improvements.
LOS and maximum number of hitpoints and resources capacity.
Example LOS just can not be more than 20 or something like that, when I last time tested it. Maybe it works now, but there is still hitpoint and capacity problems. I think that the answer may be in game engine, so there is nothing that can be done.
Buildings(and other things possible) can not have more than 30 000 hitpoints, I tried this, and buildings will be destroyed automatically when trying to build them.
And what comes to resources, example Gold Mine can not have 10 000 gold stockpile. By the way, 10 000 stockpiles is possible in Galactic Battleground, but I think it works just because of updated game engine.
Can someone convert Galactic Battlegrounds game engine into Age of Empires..?
The 1.7 not suitable or support for windows, only 1.6 is suitable.
Why the 1.7 is always error, is Genie Editor support Linux or pocket pc??
