Please keep in mind that this is my first *real* program that I've written. It's not the fastest program, but it should run fast enough. If it seems to not be responding, give it a few minutes. Some things (saving mostly) make it seem unresponsive. This is normal and is no cause for alarm. If you get any unknown errors or have any questions, please post them in the Advanced Genie Editor thread (link provided above). I may not answer right away, but you should get an answer in a few days. It may take time for me to find the answer to your question.
The current version uses the loading cursor now, as well as saying whats going on in the status area (bottom left part of the window).

I finally got this difficult program to load on the first try. Here's the formula:
Deselect the checkboxes (3)
Browse for your AoK folder
Click all the 'save' buttons there are (4)
Select 'The Conquerors' from the drop down list
The program then loads the data. Move from the 'Options' dropdown to 'Main Dat File' to see the data.
Works every time.
Didn't work for me.
Thanks to Bothorth I got this program to read my dat files, was lucky really cos i was about to post a "still dont work" post...
Simple if you follow the steps.... :)
When "Reading Dat File" , the program stop working.
This problem happens even I use the unmodified empires2_x1_p1.dat .
1.8 have major problem of save settings.
P.S AGE are unable to read Age of Empires.
Please Help Me STSB . It Says The Program Caused Runtime To Close In An Unusual Way
Please Help Me If You Can Guys
If I may point a few suggestions for next version:
-AGE will remember save settings. I'm tired of browsing for AOK directory all the time :P
-If possible - the ability to search for properties. (for example, pressing ctrl+f and typing "attack graphics", or a search bar)
Hope to see 1.9 soon enough :)
Well i coulden't install this, it says version not isntalld.
When I try to load my Conquerors dat file, for some strange reason the app crashes.
It's because I use Windows Vista??
If it's that, I hope you fix it soon.
Nah... Forget my old comment above. The app actually works... But on the original Conquerors.
And I'm trying to edit the dat files of Age of Chivalry: Hegemony. But since this app is not designed for AoC, it will naturally crash on the dat file loadings.

The Advanced Geni Editor better known as A.G.E is a new programme which allows you to edit data files and also add completely new units without changing any others, unlike MPS. It is easy to use and has many great features. You can use it to add new characters and objects to the game and create expansions like. An example would be Renaissance by olvier. A.G.E is a great programme and is useful to anyone who wants to create new units/objects and add them to the game. A.G.E is one of the most useful things an AOK gamer would want. IT can be used by Modders and also Scenario Designers for their campaigns and scenarios. An example being The Fury of Rastulf by Courtjester1.
A.G.E is a programme you must have if you like Data Editing. A MUST Download.
