Age of Chivalry: Hegemony
Age of Chivalry - a total conversion modification pack for Age of Empires II: the Conquerors set in Western and Central Europe 1100-1500 AD.
Requires the C patch.
Some versions of AoK:TC come with the patch pre-installed, such as some Gold and Collectors Editions. If this is the case, do not install the patch!
Although the graphic changes are been extensive, we've also gone for a total revamp of the gameplay. We've replaced all of the 18 civilisations, there are many new units, new, civilisation-specific buildings (the Princely Court, the Assembly Hall and the Guild Hall) as well as over a dozen new technologies, policy decisions, a mercenary system, new combat dynamics, and even an extensive history section. Yes, that's right: we're replacing all the civilisations in the game with new ones!
Wider support for scenario-only objects is included, and to showcase these a multi-scenario campaign is included with the mod itself. Multiplayer and random map balance has been tweaked, a rudimentary AI has been included, and with the new countries joining the mix, the European battles are even better!
Features:
* Command one of three types of civilisation: the early-game Communal civilisations, the mid-game, militia/spear-centred Urban societies or the heavy infantry/cavalry Noble principalities
* Prepare to fight! Changed game mechanics ensure a much earlier start to the combat, with archery units available in the first age and castles and battering rams in the second
* Complement your armies with mercenaries like the Genoese Crossbowman, the Privateer, or Scots Guards
* Take up the fight as Austria, Bavaria, Bohemia, Brandenburg, Brittany, Burgundy, Denmark, England, Flanders, Florence, France, Friesland, Genoa, Guelders, Helvetia, Hungary, Liege, Milan, Naples, the Papal States, Poland, Savoy, Saxony, Scotland, Venice, or Wales, each completely different
* Advance your country on one of at least two paths by making essential policy decisions, affecting the future of your people
* New buildings, technologies, and units, from the ordinances of the Princely Court to the might of each faction's hero
* Research new, civ-specific, technologies, such as English Longbowmen or Helvetia's Eidgenossenschaft
* Discover the history of each of the 26 countries - plus special articles on the period's conflicts and warriors
* Historical 8-scenario campaign takes you through some of the major events of the period (the battle of Bouvines, the Barons' War, the conquest of West Friesland, the battle of Kortrijk, the start of the Hundred Years War, the siege of Maastricht, the battle of Chioggia, the battle of Vitkov Hill and the siege of Neuss)
Comes with auto-installer.

Excellent mod! It is the best (probably the only) total conversion mod for AOK:TC that I have seen. It would be an excellent idea to make more content (campaigns, scenarios) for this mod or even make another mod like this! |

Age of Chivalry: Hegemony as described by the authors as "a total conversion modification pack for Age of Empires II: the Conquerors set in Western and Central Europe 1100-1500 AD.". This is the only total conversion mod I have seen for AOK:TC and it's an excellent mod indeed. The game has been massively overhauled and altered, with new units, techs, buildings, and civilizations. I found everything to be of high quality and I especially enjoyed the new civilizations. The sheer amount of new buildings and units was another great thing I love. The civilizations in the modpack, eighteen to be exact are unique and different from each other. With all of the new changes (don't forget Mercenaries and policy decisions) the game requires new strategies with every different civilization. The game includes a great eight scenario campaign and extensive history written for each civilization. The modpack also supports multiplayer, but I have not tried that out yet. Out of all the overwhelmingly great features of this modpack I'd have to say that the AI is not a strong point of this game. As I have noted, the AI does not play properly in some occasions. I have also seen that people have reported some bugs in the game but I have not seen anything significantly damaging to gameplay. Excellent!
Additional Comments:
I'd recommend this to anyone playing AOK:TC since this modpacks breaths new life into the game. It would be great to see improved AI and it would also be great to see more campaigns/scenarios for this modpack!
I agree that this modification pack is one of the best (if not the best) things that has happened to The Blacksmith.
Finally, download this if you haven't. The file is worth it. The installer that comes with the download works excellently!

dwcasey: the Mac OS version of Age of Empires 2 does not use .dat files, as .dat is a Windows filetype. Age of Chivalry depends heavily on modifying those .dat files, and so would have to be redone from scratch to work with the Mac OS version. As the mod has been 5 years' work, this is... unlikely to happen. |

Congratulations on 10,000 downloads. It's been a long time since anyone has managed that. |

In all relations this looks a great one.
Although, here are some problems.
1. Burgundy.
I can't find in archery these mercenary longbowmen to hire even after right policy choice. These mercenary longbowmen just are not accessible.
One problrem ore with ranged units - according tech. tree, in Burgundy should be available Genoese crossbowmen. They absent.
Same like an unique technique for Burgundy (!!!)- Crenellations - doesnt be offered anywhere to research - not in Castle, according tech. tree, nor anywhere else?
2.France.
How to research Ethernal peace (to get access to Swisspikemen) if it is not accessible same like mentioned above Crenellation?
3. Tech tree.
It is displaying properly very far not all uniques units.
I suppose, once so huge amount of job has been done to work out this pack, is not too much asked to find here one really true and real tech tree - including alternatives of different policy.
It is really annoying if you try to do all necessary to get accessto particulat unit but fail even after fullfilling all conditions mentioned.
I truly hope, will be possible to see these problems fixed. |

Hi Splinter,
I looked up your problems and they simply weren't there. To deal with them point by point:
1. Burgundy has crenellations available at the castle in the 15th century, and the Mercenary Longbowman at the archery range in the 15th century after researching English Alliance and Mercenaries. I just checked this and both work.
Genoese Crossbowmen are not available to them. As explained in the Readme file, the in-game graphical tech tree does not work, it is hardcoded and impossible to alter. There is a Civilisation Guide included with the Age of Chivalry download which tells you what civ gets what units and technologies.
2. Eternal Peace will be available after researching Papal Protector at the Town Hall and researching 15th century. It is available at the castle. I just checked this and it works fine.
3. As said, the in-game tech tree does not work. You should use the provided Civilisation Guide to see what you can train or research, or the airef file for an even more comprehensive breakdown of civilisations and their units, buildings and technologies. Both are installed in your Age of Empires II folder. |

One quick question, when selecting a multiplayer game, which AI is being used? I play online with a friend and we like to go against the computer and in the original AI the computer would never attack. I noticed there is no choice of AI when selecting a multiplayer game. Graphics and concepts are great, I hope it works with multiplayer against the computer. Thanks for all your work. |
