South American Islands is a map where you explore and look around different islands as a Hussar trying to find your way home. I had abit of fun playing this and looking around the islands, there wasn't much of a challenge but as this was meant for a competition and wasn't meant to be made into a battle map I gave this a 3.
Everyone is your ally on this map and you do not fight anyone on it, but as said before this map wasn't meant for to be a battle map, but to be a laid back scenario all about the map design. According to the tutorial there is no reason to knock down the balance score if there isn't any fighting.
The idea of doing a map based on a few islands can normally be dull and same-ish but this map seemed to be different to the other maps and it looked more orgional because of this i am giving it a 3.
Map Design: 4
The map design is where this map exceles at, there is alot of eye-candy and terrain mixing, overall this map is very appealing on the eye. This gets a 4.
This map has no instructions or hints whatsoever but for a small part at the beggining where the character explains what he is doing there. I don't know the nature of the competition that this was entered into so i am giving this a 2.
Very nice map design.

Very nice map! I always like these cramped city maps. :P
Just a little tip, use Pile of Food instead of Forage Bush so you don't get those ugly outlines.

Pile of food?
Is that found by using GeniED or something?

Nice map. I think I've actually got an earlier version of this on my computer somewhere. Lord knows where I got it. :P
I've got a few nagging things to say about it, though.
First of all I don't really like how the cities just sort of end near the edges of the beach. In real life, nobody does this because of the tide, etc as well as erosion.
Lots of grass 1 left under buildings. :(
I'm not a fan of where the flower sections extend over the water, in my mind it looks unrealistic (plants don't grow out over the edge of the sea except in swampy areas, and from looking at your map it doesn't exactly look swampy. :P)
The water looks unrealistic; make deeper channels instead of your current splotchy method which is just sort of porous looking.
Cities aren't ever built this close to the water; the entire idea of the map is a bit lacking I'm afraid. Still, nice effort and keep it up.

Devil Ranger, you can also map copy the Pile of food from the 'New units and new objects template v.1.1' by Enrique Orduno.
