Battle for Middle Earth is a total conversion pack which converts everything in Age of Empires into characters and creatures from the Lord of the Rings. However the Mod is currently unfinished.
In terms of graphics this is by far the best Lord of the Rings mod in the blacksmith. The graphics blend together nicely and also look good with the rest of the AOK background and terrains. I especially like the Balrog and the Ent. The Mod Pack also has a few icon changes.
Unfortunately the Mod Pack has no language changes so nothing is renamed. Because of this you don’t know what is what and you can’t really make a good scenario with them, and there also are no stat changes. The game also has a few misfits like the Ent still attacks like a conquistador, which surely isn’t right.
Additional Comments:
The Battles for Middle Earth mod is by far the best LOTR Mod Pack in terms of graphics but doesn’t have any language changes or stat changes which makes it hard to use for a scenario.
This Mod Pack would be a magnificent Mod Pack if it was finished. I would give this a straight 5 if it had language changes and stat changes.
It is still an excellent Mod though in terms of graphics.

OK so unfortunately many of the old updates didn't make it, I remember fixing all the buildings anchors and fixing all the little details, like the numenorean market, i even made the dragon look better. also some of the units didnt make it, you also didnt include the bome pallet. i wanted to redo some of the fixes and try and make some of the missing units, do the data and langues files but you made this into an installer, so i can't decompile it.[Edited on 06/22/10 @ 12:21 PM]

Generally, you have to double select the akx file and you will receive the option to either test the mod in Age of Kings or the Conquerors. Though this will require downloading Mod Pack Studio.
However, the mod above comes with a custom installer, which makes installing the mod easier! Simply double select the .exe provided in the zip file and follow the instructions. |
