Yucatán Simulation

In this world-simulation style scenario (yes, another one ;]) you have to expand your [Aztec] empire by annihalating the six other factions in and around the Yucatán Peninsula: the Spanish, two Mayan tribes, the Cubans and the Toltecs. There are a few healing/trading points on the map controlled by the 'Monks', an neutral faction willing to help anyone who needs aid. Enjoy the game and don't forget to leave a comment/review!

First things first. "The Aztec tribe" does sound clichéd but they called themselves the Mexica. Which is where Mexico comes from. The Mayans did settle in 'Mexico', however it was to the south of the Yucatan Peninsula.

Note on Geography over :P

Playability: 5
A nice, challenging game. No fancy trigger tricks, just a map, a base and some enemies. Old fashioned fun :D

Balance: 3
err.. perhap a little too many enemies.
When I first tested, it was accidentally on hardest. I got rushed before I had any resources, any additional troops or buildings.
Very quickly I died.

After setting to easiest I could fight back, but I was constantly menaced by some enemy or other.
Saying 'protect your economy' isn't a hint, its common sense. I didn't start with enough economy to defend, I simply couldn't produce units to fight back. Without it being easiest I would have simply been swamped back to my walls, with no hope of survival. Enemy bases were unasailable until Imperial age trebuchets were ready.

Scores three as it was both possible and challenging on easiest.

Creativity: 3
Simple pleasure, but too simple to score highly here. Few non-standard units, only triggers were for monks and objectives.

Map Design: 4
Geographically accurate, however too much space is taken up by fortresses, meaning all fighting is broken up by towers.
The map should have been bigger, or less opponents should have been placed.

Story/Instructions: 3
Instructions were adequate, story- non existant.

Final comments:
Played once, don't expect to play again, due to a combination of bugs (assumed my fault) and cramped design.
In future B&D, please allow wide spaces which would be found in real life to give varied combat instead of seige-harrass-sally.

The Pope.
