The Conquerors 1.0c |
Please give comments when you have played the scenario. I would like to know what you found of it.
You will fight mainly against the Turks, but in single player i guess you can achieve that, although you play the Byzantines.:)
Other opponents (or allies, your choices will decide during the game)are saracens and crusaders.
130 triggers, some Taunts to let you make choices
This is my first scenario, and I hope you will rate it, so I know at which level I am now
This scenario had become bugged while creating, but with the help I found at this site, all errors should be removed now(as I hope)
Erphir
Edit:
Fixed a minor bug
Added AI files
Wonder victory disabled
Taunt AI problem solved
Sorry for the people who have already downloaded it
Updated after having read the comments

Thank you very much, Tanneur!
Yesterday i updated my scenario again, and I playtested it too. The crusades and jihads are now occuring during the game. Unfortunately, I spotted a small task object trigger fault at the start of the crusade chain, which could crash the game. This is fixed now. Sorry to the people who have downloaded this scenario today.

OK, just played it again.
At any rate, you fixed most of the problems I listed, but the fixes caused some new problems.
-Because Alliance-Thunda was made for random maps and such, it seems to think that because it has so much land under control and so many units it should take all its units and attack. This is basically performed by it saying "DIE!!" and then charging with everything it has. If you aren't attacking them, they will rush Trebizond, but if you ARE attacking (most likely at Cilcia, seeing as your army would already be dead if you attacked from the Western Pass) then they head towards your army's position. This leads to a super-battle between your heavy Cataphracts and swordsmen (plus Monks) versus hordes of enemy spearmen, skirmishers, cav-archers, etc. While the effect IS cool, it completely depletes the AI and makes marching up the Western Pass (after the ultimate showdown) easy-peasy. Of course it takes a while to finish the Turks, their inability to take advantage of the terrain (to a certain extent, unlike the standard AI) means that in the long run, victory is assured (assuming you don't lose the showdown).
>My advise to the above is simply to find an AI author to create a custom AI for you. This may be hard, but most AI's won't do a good job here. Of course if you can't get one, keep ATE, since the previous AI wasn't good either.
-Fatimids seem to like sending all their villagers on a pilgrimage to Trebizond, at which point they start attacking the town center. This means that in the long run, they are WAY weaker then otherwise, plus it is an eyesore to have Egyptians walking the entire way from Egypt to the northernmost city on the map just to take punches at the center of it.
>Don't see why they do it, please look into it |

Very good map, a little to bit messy though. Reignald never sacked Cyprus though, and Bagdad do not exist at this time. |

This scenario has the potential to become the best one around! I like the historical context and the setting. Here are some suggestions for the author.
- Some extra attention to map design, adding props/trees and elevations. Minor detail: making the walls of Antioch stand on the same height or adding roads/hay steaks/statues/rugs to cities for the detail.
- Perhaps make Cyprus Immobile? They kept on attacking pallisade walls in the camp to the left I had to take over.
- After the Turks destroyed my buildings in Trebizond, they kept on destroying ALL pallisade walls, the noise making me crazy :p ( you know: the sound you hear when under attack)
- I want the river Nile back ! :)
- AI specific file :
Would be cool ( and historically correct) if the crusaders mainly attacked with heavy knights, defending with heavy infantry. WHile the muslims were agile and mobile on their swift horses and camels.
Nonetheless, a great game |
