House capacity

Author File Description
McDeath
File Details
Version: The Conquerors
Perhaps everyone knows the problem of having to build loads of houses to be able to reach the population limit, especially if you use Mandalorian's population mod.
so I changed the population capacity of houses from 5 to 20.
Now you need to build only ten houses to be able to have 200 people and only 50 if you use the 1000-pop-mod (instead of 200 houses!)

UPDATE:
For your convenience I uploaded a mod that combines Mandalorian's Population and the house
mod.
Those who think that battles with several hundred soldiers are too expensive to build with so little gold, wood and stone: I think you are right. Thus I increased the amount of resources a stone-/goldmine/tree yields before it vanishes.

So there are now 3 dat-files to choose from:
1. the normal house mod
2. house-and-population-mod
3. house-population-and-resources-mod

just rename the .dat-file of your choice to "empires2_x1_p1.dat" and replace the one in the "Data" folder in your game directory to use this mod.

the advanced GeniEd2 wouldn't let me change the stats properly, so I used GeniEd1.
for those who want a different house capacity I included the "patches.txt" (without population and resource modding!) so you can compile your .dat file yourself.
You should however know how to use GeniEd1 (otherwise look here: http://swgb.heavengames.com/article.php?id=29)

ronaldnl Good idea and it works very good.. I have had this idea also, and included it in my mod. I made a tech which increased the pop limit. Maybe you wanna look? Its one beneath you file at modpacks.. It also includes several of other changes, it would be great if you would give some feedback :)
imekul Works great!

Thanks for making it!

The reason I give you this low isn't because I don't like the concept. Correct me if I'm wrong but when I replace the file everything works all fine with the population, but the enemy computer AI doesn't work anymore. They only build a house and a mill and some additional villagers and that's it. When I replace the file with the original everything works fine again. I would also like to see that besideds the 20 population that the houses support now, the maximum cap is increased and it isn't. It is still at 200. I think the concept is great, but if the enemy AI will work again properly you can add 2 points to your score. And if you increase the maximum population cap you can add another 1 to your score. I will also update the score if you update your file.

Regards,
MiracleMole Mod works great, but it replaces the same file as mandalorian's population mod. Is there a way around this or another mod I could download.

Also I have no idea about editing files for AoE.

you're right. It's probably easier if all of you can download the combined mod.
I updated the file accordingly, along with some resource changes.
Fatalanger I've got a bit of a problem.

When I replace the file everything works fine and the game starts and all that stuff. Even when I build a house the population increases with 20. But when I play a normal skirmish game the enemy AI doesn't advance or build anything.

The only thing they do:
- They build one mill
- They build one house
- Some additional villagers

Things they don't do:
- Advance to next ages
- Build up an army ( which is impossible ofcourse if you don't advance to the next ages but I hope I made my problem clear ).

When I replace it with the original file it works fine again. Anyone know what I must do to fix this problem ? Many thanks already.
( PS I own the Collecters Edition DVD with AOE 1 + EXP, AOE 2 + EXP )

I have no idea why this happens with yours. I tried the mod using "difficult" AI and had no troubles.
Which dat-file did you use when you had these problems - and which difficulty?
Fatalanger Well I think I figured out what the problem is but I do not know how to solve it. When I read the readme after installation of The Conquerers it says version 1.0B and I thought the newest patch was version 1.0C

So I went to filefront to download patch 1.0C but after installation the game doesn't run anymore :| It says insert correct rom and restart application. I do not own a illegal version but bought a legal version in the game-store next door. Anyone know what I can do about this? Already many thanks.
cobra_ady Hy.I want some help becouse i do the same steps like in the firs text but the population it still 200.It didnt work .i have AOE 2 Gold Edition can be this a problem .Please give me some email adress to contact you to help me with the population.
tamouze Hey, thanks for your work, it's a great job, a grat mod pack, but i think it would be better , as the capacity of the houses increases from 5 to 20, if the price increases too from 30 wood to 120 wood.
I don't know how to do it, but if someone thinks it's a good idea too, a fair idea, please do it for me !! thanks
