Visions of the Past: Chapter 1

Author File Description
King Joshua III
File Details
Version: The Conquerors
Style: Role Playing Strategy
This scenario revolves around many different characters who all play parts in the same story.

You get to play as 3 different characters, each with a slightly different style of game play.

I think you will really enjoy this scenario, I have made one other scenario that got like a 3.8, so it can only get better, right?

Well, try it out, see what you think, and leave a review.

Maybe you should set it on easy if you think it is too hard? Its dynamic ya know.
Winter Team It was well done! Good job!
The terrain was interesting. The cities were alright, except the main part of the first city was a little crowded with Houses. The story itself was entertaining and easily understood. There should have have a little more instructions in the "Objective" section, the scene with the lost key was a little confusing.
~Note to Hero Alan~ I played it on "Hard," and I did not find it impossibly difficult (especially if you follow the author's advice to "wait for heroes to regain their lives").
I hope chapter 2 comes out soon!

Any chance I could get a review out of somebody?
HIGH EMPEROR Hero Alan, what kind of review was that? Reviews ARE NOT for advertising. Advertise in the forums.
Winter Team ~Note~ The review by Hero Alan did not include the explanations for the given low ratings.
Hero Alan! Read the instructions that are included in the "Submit a Player Comment" section!

Playability 4
It went well most of the way. From time to time a dead character would speak (a good example would be the guard that follows you to the bandits' lair. If the guard was killed, he still spoke after the robbers were slayed).
Also I had to wait a long time for my character to regenerate in the middle of the already mentioned bandit's lair quest. That was a long wait, and it made the game boring (you should have a monk in the first part of the city).

Balance 5
It was challenging and interesting to battle through the forests full with enemy soldiers. A definite 5.

Creativity 5
Very Good! There were many well placed trigger tricks that fit the story well. A definite 5.

Map Design 5
Outstanding! Giant forests full of eye-candy, nice cities, it was great! Again, a definite 5.

Story/ Instructions 4
The instructions in the key search were a little bit confusing, and you should have had more objective changes.

Final Thoughts
There is a feeling that you are a very good scenario designer. Keep up the good work, finish the campaign.
zyxomma100 Hero Alan, I see no point to that review. I just e-mailed Zen to have it removed.
jaegerdude A thoroughly enjoyable scenario which clearly evidences the authors imagination and creativity.

I truly look forward to playing the second chapter, please complete it soon.

Oh by the way please bring back Private Gymor.

Playability:
It was a very good campaign all around. But there were some little things that could be better. One thing was the cities, you should have named the cities to make it easier to find them, now you had to guess where it was sometimes. I agree with the one who said you should bring a monk with the main character for the same reason.
Another very small thing was that the civs were a little strange, I mean, from britons to Japanese, but that's not a very big problem.

Balance:
Very good. It was hard to beat this campaign, and I really like that. It is much more fun to have some difficult battles than killing everyone without problems.

Creativity:
Also great. A lot of triggers and some good stuff throughout the campaign.

Map Design:
Simply amazing. The creator must have had a lot of work in creating such a beautiful map.

Story/Instructions:
The story was rather good but I wasn't too pleased about the instructions. There were far too few of them. Most things you had to figure out ourself, which is not really too bad when it happends one time, but it happened too often which made the campaign unnecessary difficult in a boring way.

All in all, a great campaign. I hope that you will use my instructions to make the next scenario even better, which I am really looking forward to. You are talented enough to be a top campaign-creater.
Josh Williams Thanks for the review Don Carleone.

If those little things you mentioned are all I am lacking I may just go back, fix them, and submit a v1.1 and go for the big 5.0!

Thanks Again,
Josh
