The OFFICIAL Scenario Editor Thread

In this thread, discuss what features you would like to see in a new editor. Share your thoughts and ideas. Please one idea per post please.

    Well, I finally found some time to compile all the posts in this thread. Maybe later, when I have some more time, I will categorize them.


Current list

  1. Allow alteration of all unit stats (name, HP, attack, armor, speed, etc.) with or without triggers —CrystalCrown

An object editor.( or put another way, the ability to edit game objects)

Trigger/condition/effect copier/paster/deleter!!!

That way, you can move a condition into another trigger, either by copying/pasting or dragging/dropping! The same for effects (dragging them into different triggers, instead of making new effects!). Copying entire triggers or partial triggers, IMHO, is the best thing that can happen to the scenario editor.

Allow name changes and stat, stance changes when creating constant units. You know that change object name only has a select object, well it should have set area!

There's a camp that has little green rings around the unit that speaks, achieved with 2 "change ownership" triggers. If a new single trigger can reproduce this effect, it would be good, too. Do the bubles in Diablo II block out the background? That could be a problem, if it does.

Oh, and for the record: they ought to fix the darned ">" being added when the instruction text is in red.

I have known of that trick for a while. I mean, if they had 1 trigger that did that instead of the hard multi-triggered way.

Trigger Ideas

-play sound
-stop sound
-fade sound
-Create Danger Element
-Alter Elevation

Play Sound: Source Player will determine who hears it, and let the default player be on PLAYER 1 instead of GAIA! There would also be an option to play the sound softly, loudly, or moderately. Also, there would be 10 layers of sound (kinda like how Flash works I think). You can choose for this sound you're playing to be in layer 1, layer 2, etc...

Stop Sound: Stop all sounds that is currently being played in the target layer

Fade Sound: This will work same as stop sound except the sound will stop completely after 3 seconds of activation of the trigger. During that 3 second delay the sounds being stopped will graduately fade in volume. This'll make great natual background musics.

Create Danger Elements: Creat things like explosions

Alter Elevation: It simply alters the elevation of a selected area. This'll work great for earthquakes and stuff. All the buildings on the "altered terrains" will crumble.

And, when we're done, the color hex code is entered, and the text is displayed in that color, just like these forums, but with the color-selection part.

My opinion is similar to this, but a bit different. My opinion is that the more quantity and quality of the "hidden" element of the editor, the longer the life of the game will be. If every good aspect are too simple to find out then it wouldn't last as long as AOK.

That's in EE...don't know if that is in AoM. In EE, you can set the rotation in degrees.
