How would there be relics in AOEIII? If it is in "the new world" and 1600AD+, then what relics will be there? If there are no relics, then you can't get free gold(AOE) or free upgrades(AOM).

There were relics in midieval times like pieces of the cross and other religious artifacts.

I would like to know which cross? 'Pieces of THE cross' Which one? Was there only one? What?
ps. I know this will somehow turn into a religeous heated discussion (flame war)
If practice makes perfect but nobody is perfect what is the point in practicing?

What made you think that AoE3 will be an AoK remake? There may not (and probably won't) be relics.

Relics were almost always religious objects (which is why they could be collected by Monks and Monk alone), such as the piece of the true cross for Christians, the Ame no Murakomo no Tsurugi (Cloud Cluster sword given to the first Emperor of Japan by the Sun Goddess), or something else that held a place of importance in a religion. The steady income of Gold you got in AoK was donations from the people because the place of worship held that relic. In AoM, you got bonuses from relics which were random artifacts (like "Eye of the Minotaur" or something) that had special powers (like stronger units, etc).
Basically that means relics are likely to be used in a third game because it's not like religion all of the sudden disappeared. They could be used for anything.
