Oh yes it will run it sosmoothly u will never no ... BAH... the game isnt out.. we dont know the min recs... anyways that will be fine i bet... might want to go for an ATI tho cuase they tend to do better renditions on the RTS games, while nvi is good for FPS, that might change with the havok engine tho.

Thanx Mokon

PS dont buy at tiger direct, buy at newegg... best site on the web

If you want a graphics card that will support Vertex Shader 3.0 and Pixel Shader 3.0 to take advantage of all of AOE III's graphical features, then from what I understand, you will need to get one of the nVidia Geforce 6 series (6xxx). Not sure if ATI has any cards yet that supports both VS3 and PS3. But if you're just getting a new graphics card for AOE III, I suggest you wait until the game is nearly released, as the prices should go down and there should be some new video cards released.

In testing on Doom 3, some of ATi's best cards beat nVidia's best ones. However, this isn't Doom 3. Any new(ish) card from either of those two companys should be able to run it perfect.

One thing to keep in mind, is that you might only have PCI slots. (I checked my Dimension 8200 and it has 4 PCI slots and an APG slot, so you might be safe getting an AGP graphics card). Also, PCI-Express is a different type of slot than regular PCI and you cannot use a PCI-Express supported card on a regular PCI slot. If you just have PCI slots and the card you want doesn't come in a regular PCI slot version, then you will need to get a new motherboard with a PCI-Express slot or an APG slot. If you do such a thing, you might want to consider getting one with the PCI-Express slot as I heard its to replace APG eventually, so it may be a better investment for the next time you purchase a graphics card.

And so you know, both those cards you choose are APGs, and won't work if you got a PCI slot.

OK. Certain cards only plug into certain slots. For instance, I have 4 PCI-Bus slots, and one AGP Slot. I use the AGP (Accellerated Graphics Port) slot for my graphics card because 1) That's where it's supposed to go, and 2) it's the only place it fits.

However, the newer cards will also fit into PCI-Express slots (and sometimes ONLY PCI-Express slots), which are faster. You gotta work out what type of card slot you have and what type of card can fit in it.

At least that's about the best info I can give you without bothering to look it up properly.

only thing i can say is make sure it has VS3 and PS3, along with DirectX9.0 support. getting a top of the line one for this game is prolly a smart move in this case, cuz this game was made with the goal to b the best looking game out there. so if u can get this game to run smoothly, itll b a while b4 some game comes out w/overwhelming sys requirements

ok so what little slot do i have on mine now? Do i need to change it? If so how much would it cost. And if i dont can someone give me a good video card that will run the aoe 3 with little to no trouble at all. I was lookin at the radeon 9800 pro on ebay, is it worth it i heard it was a great card. Will it fit on my slot thingy

Ok, I just double checked inside my Dell Dimension 8200 and discovered that I have an AGP slot, along with 4 PCI slots. I was confused with another comp of ours that doesn't have an AGP slot. While this may be what you have as well, it might still be a good idea to check inside your comp and make sure you have an AGP slot.

Here's a little diagram of a motherboard that will help you look for an AGP slot: Motherboard
Note that not all motherboards look exactly the same. On my computer, the AGP slot is green and the PCI slots are white. If you do have an AGP slot, it's likely your current graphics card is already in the slot.

So if you find an AGP slot, either go with a Geforce 6 series card or it's ATI equivalent, or settle for something less expensive, but lose out on having VS3 and PS3 support for AoEIII.

Here's a nice one here, but its $270.00. Unless you're playing games like Half-Life 2 or Doom 3 right now, you may want to wait until the price goes down.

VS3 and PS3 I would imagine are software based, so it's more a point of getting a card with enough Memory, Mhz and Card-to-Cpu speed to be able to handle them.

But certainly, wait till AoE3 comes out, and then get a slighly older card that's come down in price. By that time 512 cards will probably be out anyway.

    Ok, follow these instructions:

Unfortunately, there's no way to tell what slots you have unless you know what you have from when you bought it or you open up your computer. Dimension 8200's are easy to open, just push in the dark grey buttons on the top and the bottom at the back end of the case and open it up like a book. Unplug it first though.

On the motherboard, you should see a few white slots, those are your PCI slots. You should have either 2, 4, or 6 of those. Right above those you may see another slot, but a smaller one in the color green (you should have the same color as mine since its the same computer). If you have that, then its your AGP slot. Note that your current graphics card is probably already in your AGP (green) slot if you have one, if not then its using a PCI (white) slot.

Here's a picture of a motherboard with an AGP slot and with 6 PCI slots: See picture
The white ones are the PCI slots and the red one is the AGP slot; yours should be green though.

So, if you found an AGP slot in your computer, then you can get an AGP graphics card, like the one you picked out or the one I did.

If not, then you have to stick with PCI (be careful not to get PCI-Express), which is limited.

Your only other alternative is to get a new motherboard with an AGP slot or a PCI-Express slot. And if that's the case, seek advice from someone who would know what type of motherboard to get, as Dell has some compatability issues with replacing their motherboards.

No Graphics Card (generally, no PC) that exists now will be able to play AOE3 really smooth. Even AOM does not go smooth with 8 player multiplayer games with today's best PCs.

ES wanna make money out of this game....why the hell would newbie gonna go buy a expensive VC just for this game? and most likely MOST buyer prolly don't know crap about pc.n just go buy a dell,hp, etc......which ahve shitty vc in them. the grphic is good, but i'm pretty sure 128mb VC should run smoothly on regular setting.

Not always, thats why it'd be a REALLY good idea to make sure you do before you go off and buy an expensive piece of hardware.

is a nVidia Geforce4 MX 440 good enough video card? Because in RTW it get's choppy, and if it's not what's a cheap video card you recommend.
