King Magician: Next time you should think a little longer before you post your thread. So we can understand it better.

I would assume that the population would more closely resemble Age of Empire's Population. Since Age of Mythology isn't part of the Age of Empires Series, they were using different ideas unique to the Age of Mythology Series. For example, like Settlements, multi-pop units, more unique civs, etc.

I would, however, think that they would use something similar to Age of Mythology, like all foot units cost 1 pop slot, cavalry and siege cost 2 populations, and ships cost 3 populations. Don't get too stressed out though, Ensemble already said they're increasing population, too. I would expect it to be around 300 to 500.

I think that even if ES had made AoE3 instead of AoM, many of those ideas would still have been included. One of the main complaints critics had with AoK is that it wasn't original enough, gameplay is almost the same as that of Warcraft II. So it would be a bad idea for AoE3 just to be AoK with improved graphics, no matter what many people say.

AoK did not feel like War2, and even if you say so, then AoM is more like War3 than Aok is like War2. I think it would be a good idea to keep it one pop for every unit, the balencing was quite unique in AoK because Palidins could beat out Pikes, but because gold was extreamly limited, if you did that and couldn't pick up a quick win, you were gonna be stuck with nothing but 'trash' units when your coffers run dry. Now with teh pop unevening, there is no longer the unique feel to teh Pike beats Knight idea, as it would simply be pike beats knights, the end. No short term win, long term loss on some unit matchups, thus making the battles that of a generic RTS game.
