Ten minutes later in the lounge room I noticed the room suddenly darkened and the light shining through the cracks of the curtains turning a deep orange golden.
I quickly walked outside to see a horizon of grey/ brown smoke come over my town, and fast!
Fire experts believe tomorrow, the weekend, will be the worst bushfire weekend in Victoria's recorded history. There are fifty recorded bushfires in the state where I live, and in the east, Gippsland, massive bushfires in all one area are expected to merge into a superfire possibly destroying six hundred thousand hectares of bushland. Thousands and thousands of firefighters are being called in from surrounding states, and our State Government even requested help from New Zealand, People in many areas are being asked to decide whether they are going to leave or stay to help defend their homes. Temperatures tomorrow are expected to soar anywhere from 35 to 40+ degrees celcius with strong northerly winds. The newspaper yesterday showed a NASA satellite image of Victoria revealing a gigantic cloud of smoke covering half the state and falling over that island below us they call Tasmania. While there are a few bushfires surrounding my town, they are contained, I hope. Well I honestly say that I am anxious and await news on what tomorrow's future will hold. As of now outside it is like it is overcast, that is how bad the smoke is and even now it falls to the ground like a mist. It stinks too. Ah well, Dark_Reign is getting worse somewhere a few hundred kilometres north. - Those aren't clouds in the picture either, that is the smoke from the fires.
