Indeed, I’ve just come back from seeing Status Quo, and I know some of you may soon realise only two hours ago I was posting on the forums, so I think I owe an explanation to the rather random circumstances which I went to “see” Status Quo.
Well, Status Quo where playing in my town tonight, at the town’s park where a stage has been erected (yes, that can be seen as innuendo, I’ll ruin your fun by pointing it out first) and they were set to perform. At around 8:15 I heard the support act from my garden, it was pretty subtle and not very loud, so I went back into not go on the forums and actually do something more efficient with my time to go on the forums.
Now fast forward to 9pm, and there was a pretty loud sound of music, at first I thought it was my next-door neighbour playing music loud, so I stepped outside, and crystal clear and rather loud I heard Status Quo…..and I live 20 minutes from the park. Anyway, on a whim like I said, “Hmmm, this is so loud, I wonder what it’ll be like to go down and listen to them”, so I left the house and headed for the park.
When I walking you could still hear the band very clearly and loudly and slowly getting louder the closer you, but when I got to the park I found what I expected, temporary fencing around the part of the park where they where performing, but I could hear them nice and loud, so I was happy.
So I took a stroll around the security fence and I saw people lying on the floor looking under the fence, so I did the same. Lying prone on the grass and 100m in front of me was the stage and Status Quo playing, I then stayed and lied there listening to them play. It was pretty empty by the stage compared to other open air gigs, but many of the locals (like myself), instead of paying £30, camped on the outside of the fence, many bringing deckchairs, towels and beer to just sit and listen, while others like myself where lying on the ground looking under the fence at the stage.
I’m not a pretty big Quo fan, but I listened to their songs, good fun, especially “Whatever you want” and “Rockin’ all over the world”.
So yes, that is the tale of my little exploit and random though about going to see Status Quo while lying prone by a security fence…sound quality was still fine though.
