Help would be appreciated! Here is a tale of technical woe:
Yesterday, I was loading some videos on the computer (TV series episodes), and put an HDMI cable into the computer so I could see the videos on the big screen.
Then a friend came over, and we went out to get food. When I came back, 30 minutes later, the computer had turned off, though the power button on my Asus was flashing blue, which normally only happens when the computer is on sleep. But the odd thing was, I hadn't put the computer to sleep before I left!
I pressed the power button, and then the computer turned on, and there was a screen saying Windows had not shut down properly. I went to "start up Windows normally" and a blue screen appeared, telling me the computer had to dump its data, etc.
So I started up the computer again. I turned on Netflix to watch a movie, and 15 minutes later, the computer froze, making a weird repetitive sound like "dadadadada". So I turned off the computer again, and it went back to that screen asking if I wanted to start up Windows normally. I went to "Safe Mode", then had it shut down normally from there.
Started up the computer AGAIN in normal mode this time, and everything went fine. During a movie I was watching via HDMI on TV, it seemed the mouse had frozen for a bit. I moved the mouse quickly and then everything was fine from then on.
Now there are no more blue screens, but the computer takes a long time to start up at the Windows 7 "welcome" screen after I log in. Normally it takes around 2-3 seconds, now it takes a couple seconds longer, weird.
Any idea what the problem could be? Why did the computer get a blue screen crash and shut off? I think maybe when I pressed the button after I came back from dinner, the computer turned off by force, rather than coming back from sleep. Some online suggest the issue is Asus Live Update, but all my drivers are up to date, according to Asus Live Update.
