I want to know what your thoughts are on this. What are the laws regarding different types of firearms in your countries? How does the public feel about them? etc.
Personally, I feel as if the government over here is handling this badly. There is no reason to ban firearms, instead an extremely stringent application process should be put in place. I would go as far as forcing manufacturers to put fingerprint scanners on their guns, making the gun impossible to steal without serious tampering. It would also solve all the tragic deaths by accident when a child picks up their dad's "toy".
I think it would work. military rifles could either be exempt from this requirement, or have a large library of fingerprints stored, and anybody in that list could use the weapon.
