Well I see Regan is pretty radicalized in his views on Islam.
From what I've seen (I've seen very little though) it just so happens that the percentage of highly religious/orthodox people in Islam is very high compared to other religions.
I will also say that Islam is not the same everywhere. South and South-East Asia, which have about 67% of the world's Muslim population, haven't seen their people joining ISIS at anywhere close to the number which joins from countries like France and Germany and other Western nations. Now why do you think that is so?

Then it is the region that is the culprit, not the religion? (that sounds racist)
I don't know what you are referring to when you say that it doesn't get much media coverage but both ISIS and news of people joining them is covered widely in the news here. In fact, the Hindi news channels have half-hour ISIS segments which run every two or three days when they run out of news.
