Geotechnical Engineer and lab manager for a materials testing lab.
Did my bachelors in engineering, bounced around a bit, then eventually settled in at my current place. We are hydrogeolical, environmental, geotechnical, and construction quality control services. Ive never done much Environmental Site Assessment work myself, though its basically the kind of place CK will be working for a year or two before going back to school.
I don't see myself ever changing careers at this point.
Edit: this is also in Canada. I'm not sure how ESA work differs from the US, though I imagine it is roughly the same process. Here there is a phase 1 ESA, which is essentially running a background check on the site, looking for historical sources of contamination, etc. Depending on the results of that, a phase two would involve sampling and delineating contamination. Phase 3 is site cleanup.
I mainly work on the geotechnical and hydrogeological side of things, which focuses on construction and groundwater concerns and largely is unconnected to the environment side.
