As the title says. It doesn't matter where this quote is from. A real life person of any standing (living or dead), a book or a movie, your favorite video game or anime, a random person on the internet... Bonus points if it's from somewhere you wouldn't expect such wisdom.

(And now we wait for half of these to be joke answers)

Here's one of mine: "There's no need to be a hero. You don't have to force yourself just to make people acknowledge you. You end up blaming yourself, blaming other people, feeling jealous of everyone... It doesn't have to be like that. Even if people don't acknowledge you, you just have to be someone that you can be proud of, because you yourself are your biggest supporter. If you can learn to love yourself, that love will continue to support you for the rest of your life."

(Don't look that one up, you might stumble headfirst into spoilers.)

On tenacity:

"Don't make decisions about things that bother you as long as you're bothered by them."

On clear-mindedness, I like the Japanese word "sunao", which means honesty and forthrightness, but has the implied meaning of not nurturing illusions.

On simplicity, I like Occam.

You can read my favorite in my sign.
Another is: "A road does not bend without a reason."
I don't know it's origin but once it was me, telling HockeySam how to design roads properly. But later I've discovered it has more than one meaning.

AN EVIL TONGUE IS A MAN'S BANE.

I found the perfect villainous rebuttal to that one: "Let he who is with sin and loves it cast the final stone!"

"A road does not bend without a reason."
From the point of view of a civil engineer this is certainly true, but in AoK there are two notions that render this largely moot.

The first is that units always move at the same speed regardless of the terrain they are traversing. The second, far more importantly, is that in AoK rigidly straight roads are almost always less visually appealing than their meandering counterparts.

I find the greatest philosophical musings often come from my close friends. Things that often unintentionally capture the nature of life in a certain moment. Unfortunately I remember none of these quotes due to how transient these moments often are.

There's a German idiom/phrase about "letting grass grow over something", i.e. not bringing up something until the situation is no longer of interest (without having settled the situation).

Now one of my favourite quotes is "you can let grass grow over so many things that you can't trust a single lawn anymore".

But my perhaps number one favourite quote is from Germany's first chancellor, Konrad Adenauer, even though it's not actually sourced from public speeches. "Was kümmert mich mein Geschwätz von gestern?" -> "What do I care about my blabber of yesterday?"

We also have this in Dutch. We default it to "Don't let grass grow over it"; Don't delay, act now.

"I divide my officers into four groups. There are clever, diligent, stupid, and lazy officers. Usually two characteristics are combined. Some are clever and diligent -- their place is the General Staff. The next lot are stupid and lazy -- they make up 90 percent of every army and are suited to routine duties. Anyone who is both clever and lazy is qualified for the highest leadership duties, because he possesses the intellectual clarity and the composure necessary for difficult decisions. One must beware of anyone who is stupid and diligent -- he must not be entrusted with any responsibility because he will always cause only mischief."
