I've been seeing this issue off and on for a long time. (10 to 20 years)
Myself and a friend have been playing a very long game (few hours), and at random times the game would simply start lagging to the point where games wouldn't respond to commands.
I tested out some things and blowing up some computer castles at random reduces the lag. Also, idle Computer villagers being killed removes the lag.
Is there a pathfinding bug on AOE 2: TC // HD?
Or. another possible issue?
Example; We played 2x6, against all Persians on Very Hard, 500 pop count. Our computers are more than adequate to run this (TR 3970X, 32GB of memory, and a Core i9, 32GB). After 3 hours, it would simply get very slow to build or our units to respond to commands.
This happens with the game's stock AI (TC and the HD one).
