Hey AoKH. How's life and all things AoE?
I'm a long-time lurker that occasionally dabbles in the editor but never has the confidence to commit to anything spectacular save for the occasional silent applause to those that still have the resolve and talent to keep this community alive with phenomenal expansions and scenarios. And while I'll likely never manage to actually submit anything to the Blacksmith, this question of the (amiable) feud between the advocates of mods and those against them still intrigues me.
So rambling aside, what's the general feeling of the community about mods? I've always had this reservation about using them because I always feel a heavy conviction towards staying true to the source material. But with the popularity of fan-made expansions and the like, how is everyone feeling about playing scenarios and campaigns built around mods? Are they essential to succeed at creating something for a game that's so ancient? Unnecessary gimmicks?
Judiciously show a cat milk, if you wish her to thirst for it.
Judiciously show a dog his natural prey, if you wish him to bring it down one day.
