Hi all,
Based on the great community feedback in my Age of Darkness (http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=424153697) and Age of Vibrance (http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=424144724) mods, I've decided to start working on a day/night cycle in AoE2HD using ENB modifications + custom HLSL DirectX 9 shader code. Now, I'd like to ask a few questions to the community regarding day/night cycles in game:
1. How long do you think the entire period should be?
-I am thinking 24 minutes, 1 minute to represent each hour of the day.
2. What percent of daytime and nighttime do you prefer?
-Currently I have it set to 75% day, 25% night, or in the case of a 24 minute period, 18 minutes of day and 6 minutes of night, divided into two distinct intersecting curves with varying slopes to model sunrise/sunset and ensure smooth state transitions.
3. Which state would you like to start a game in- day or night?
-I have it set to day currently.
Your feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
P.S. - I am gathering data from the Steam community as well:
