The question, of course, provided it is legal to do so within the context of modding is if anyone wants to distribute voices from DE, the way I did with old Greek from Age of Mythology?

Personally I am most interested in the Tatar/Cuman and Lithuanian soldier voices (if you have played the later versions of Tzars and Salesmen you might guess why) but I think a general movement to share those would benefit the community in general

I currently cannot buy the DE version, because of discrepancy between my current location and billing address (go figure why that should matter, but ok).

I once did a database extraction, unfortunately the audio file was random (ID) and I did not understand the language of Bulgarian.

That's better than nothing, thus if you still have consider uploading to the Blacksmith I could reassign the Greek voices properly in my mods, simply relying on my ear for languages... I don't speak Greek, but I speak 4 and 2 halves

Yeah, I'll try it and send the file to your email.

Bala, you are the best!

Now, only if time allows you, would you like to help me find some IDs? Using the AGE-equivalent for DE, maybe?

In particular soldier voices for Tatars/Cumans and Lithuanians?

Thank you dearly(!) in advance!!

that's the problem.
When extracting a BNK extension (like a DRS file but more complex) the ID starts 001,002,003 ...
Obviously this has no correlation with ID in Advanced Genie Editor 3. I have an idea but this will take time and patience:
# Import all files *. WAV into the DRS, then form a list containing *. WAV
# Listen to the sounds one by one (this will really take time and patience)
# If you find one of the IDs that are CIV Voice from DE, extract it, enter it in a specific folder, change the name, for example 1143.wav is Tartar Villager when it is selected, then give the name vselect.wav input into the Tartar folder / Villager

Or by recording directly into the gameplay in Scenario Editor to identify sounds. For example, in the scenario editor, I put 1 Villager man with a Tatar nationality, then I record it with a screen recorder (Bandicam, Ocam, etc) for every sound produced by the commands that I do, do editing to take his voice. But this method can allow the sound produced is not as clear as the extraction results.

Actually I can do it, but it will really take quite a lot of time.

Thank you infinitely for your hard work, let's think it through before it become more and in that regard, sorry for my late response :/

So you are saying the extraction method obscures how the IDs are referenced in the drs. and the Advanced Genie Editor for DE?

If that's the case, probably because either Advanced Genie Editor or Turtle Pack have no corresponding versions for DE, right?

Just to make sure, first, that I understand the core problem

Yes

if my opinion is not wrong, in the Advanced Genie Editor there is a Sound ID that is also linked to the sound effects database (the file is named SFX.BNK), it's just that the extraction process is a chaos ID. For example, in BNK there is ID 245 280 290, but when the extraction process is done the ID will change to 1 2 3 and so on.

@BOT_Alan:

This is generally a great proposition, but feel free to do it for the community as a whole so they have the option. It took me some time and effort and thought to extract the Greek voices from Age of Mythology. I know they are not perfect, but because of my work investment I am somewhat attached to them, never the less I am not the only moder here, who likes original voices, so whatever you do will find application, maybe in at least one of my projects, too

@Bala Arizalu:

Maybe what we can start with to approach the problem, is you just give me the voice IDs as they appear in the data editing program, even if they don't correspond 1:1 with the IDs of the extracted files, that's better than nothing Remember, for now the Tatar/Cuman and Lithuanian soldiers and Bulgarian monk are enough, don't try to find out all the IDs, that would be too much work I would not ask of anyone, unless they really wanted that for themselves.

Yes that's better.

Edit: Found a better method. I hope to do it as soon as possible.

Thank you much for your efforts, Bala

But actually, 2 to go The Tatars/Cumans use the same dialogue in DE and also remember I need only the soldier voices for them.

Thank you, again!

I really like the firing arrow and scout/horses sound in DE and wish I could use them on UP 1.5 version(my PC can't run DE). Tried to extract them with Audacity from some streamers videos but there are always background noises and mouse clicks.

@Bala Arizalu and Khan Ivayl.

I'd really like to know the better method. I'd like access to extracted Cuman, Tatar, and Lithuanian DE voices, specifically for monk and soldier, but preferably for all, villagers male and female included.

I'm intending to use these for my custom Crimean Khanate, Kazakh Khanate, Kalmyk Khanate, and Khivan Khanate factions for my Last Khanates mod for Empire Total War and Napoleon Total War. I've already finished over 30 units porting and adapting assets from Mount & Blade: With Fire & Sword, Europa Universalis 4 (I have all unit DLCs), and other games. Those two primarily. I've obtained permissions from mod authors and respective companies before doing so. So I'm all good on the legal side since I reached out to them about my plans.

I'm struggling extracting civ-specific unit voices from the WEM files, opening them up.

I installed Wwise version 2019.2.2.7275. However, this version gives me the following error:
"This project or one of the work units has been saved with a more recent version of Wwise, and can't be opened."

I also tried opening with the AGE3 provided in the "Tools_Builds" folder by the developers themselves. Under the Sounds tab, I can find for example ID 420: subID 100: cuvmms1.wav File DRS resource 8313, which corresponds to Cuman Soldier Select 1. However, I can't figure out how to extract that WAV file using AGE 2020.03.20 provided by the developers themselves.

Also, here is a very very helpful Audio Modding Guide by StepS who is part of the Forgotten Empires team: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1915891079

And here is the Excel sheet that helps find the IDs of everything: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1bczdFQksnbLnjI5zAkw-mSpb9MnnxxEkHDiz1PftIHw/edit#gid=1253882711

This should eliminate the guessing game. I know exactly the IDs I want, but I have no way of extracting the WEM, BNK or any files.

Please help!!! Thank you in advance!

I have planned to extract all voice of The Last Khan civilization and upload it to the Blacksmith, but this is only a matter of time due to my busy schedule.

Hello all,

I managed to get Cuman, Tatar, and Lithuanian unit voices recorded and saved. Here are the attachments! Enjoy!

AOE2DE CUMAN VOICES

AOE2DE TATAR VOICES

AOE2DE LITHUANIAN VOICES

Note: I followed the folder structure of the BULGAR voice shared by Bala Arizalu. So if I'm missing any voices, please do let me know. Yet, I think I covered them all, in the same vein as the Bulgar voice pack that Bala Arizalu shared so graciously with us and gave me this recording idea as a workaround the extraction problem. I still need to resolve the extraction problem, because I'd like to port Central Asian architecture building mesh and texture assets as well.

Word of warning though: These are my recordings with Action! and then edited with Audacity the silent portions before and after, focusing on just the voice snippet. So this may be OFF from the EXTRACTED version. I never managed to get the extraction to work.

Actually, with Ravioli Game Tools, I was finally able to unpack the SFX.bnk or BNK file. LINK: http://www.scampers.org/steve/sms/other.htm#ravioli

However, there are no names and the numbers don't align with anything that AGE3 shows. So it's really difficult to find what it is. The few Cuman/Tatar ones I did find this way sounded very close, almost imperceptible to my recordings, so they do the job. Still, comparing to an extracted original official source would be great!

So, Bala Arizalu, I'd love to compare the EXTRACTED voices from your set with the RECORDED voices from my shared packs. Looking forward to your eventual post with EXTRACTED sound files. No rush, whenever you can, in your spare time.

Hopefully this would save stress/hassle for peeps! Cheers!!

Just curious is it possible to convert units from those games to be used in AOE?Never seen units from Europa Universalis 4 converted to AOE format before.
