AOK was a game that I really liked and have lot of fun modding it, but to be honest I hate this game now and all the stuff related to it... so good job everybody

I think that the argument that the graphics don't look similar to the original game doesn't apply here. Last I heard, ToME is a total conversion

When you stack a ton of high quality graphics together in one mod, all you get is awesomeness. I understand that some people may see Jorgito's high quality units juxtaposed with the ES units and say they don't fit. Well, okay Sherlock. That's because Jorgito's units are better and newer, and while it's a barely passable argument in some situations, it doesn't apply here. ToME is a completely new game and all of the graphics are newer and of better quality. That means they all will (and do) fit together, especially with the great effort Jorgito and Matt have put in on the graphics (and Pulkit for all the data, of course). I've read every post in this thread and I've followed it since the new thread about a year ago (I followed the old thread before too). As a huge LoTR fan, I am beyond excited to play the final version.

I know I flared up a bit but it's frustrating to see the hate that Jorgito has gotten since his return a little while back. Most of the mods currently in development use Jorgito's graphics and if he left the modding community would take a huge step backwards. Aside from that, much of the criticism is pretty contradictory and as Matt aptly stated "you guys don't know what you want". I'm not reacting to anybody in particular but rather the atmosphere that has followed Jorgito around and is completely unfair. Constructive criticism is no problem as long as it is clear and helpful, ergo constructive, but Matt isn't a Djinn who is here to suit everybody's specific needs and desires. A mod can't please everybody but this one is about as good as it gets. If you don't like it, you can either make your own mod or go back to designing scenarios using Woad Raiders and Jaguar Warriors for Orcs and Longbows for Elves

Again, no hard feelings towards anybody in particular, just saying what needs to be said. Nobody take this as offensive because that's not my point.

go back to designing scenarios using Woad Raiders and Jaguar Warriors for Orcs and Longbows for Elves
LOTR in vanilla AoK:

Berserk = dwarf
Longbow = Elf
Jaguar warrior = Orc
Turtle ship = dragon
All women = Joan the Maid
Balrog = Elephant (all monsters in all scenarios are elephants)
Militia = Hobbit
Furious the Monkey Boy = Gollum
Onagers on attack ground = Mount Doom/any volcano (never got that one)

I think that covers it.

No excuses! I need you back. There are still some things to do. And just remember, all the complaints just mean people care that we get it right.

So get back to work.

All the units look great! I have followed this since the beginning. I have followed middle earth lotr mods for aoktc since the first one came out. This is modding taken to a whole 'nother level.

As was stated before this is really another game build on the genie engine. Call it a total conversion or an expansion. People here know that if ES had released this for sale, you all would be in line to buy it!!

Keep up the great work! I maintain that if any of the moders in this mod wanted to move in to the gaming industry this mod in their portfolio would get them there.

Thanks! Unfortunately, I have a job already, which is kind of why this takes forever, haha.

Anyway, Pulkit, this is my to do list:

1. Rhun Siege workshop
2. Wainrider - over half done
3. Hobbit - not sure I can pull this off, the aok unit size is basically the limit where detail breaks down at. To go to almost half that is pretty hard. I had some success with the dwarflord, so maybe I'll figure a way out. Jorgito, do you still have your old Hobbit model?
4. Make building slps for Rohan, Rhun, and Harad.

If you get to #4 before me, so much the better.

Jorgito, here's what you have left to do:

1. Add the renders for the Elvish cavalry (minus the heavy knight) to the dropbox.
2. Make a couple more elves to replace the old ones like you mentioned (optional, only if you still want to)
3. If you still have the Hobbit, please upload it. If not, I'll figure something.

To add, one or two female models for any or all of these: Healer, Eowyn and Arwen.

Edit: Guys, keep in mind it's mostly the people with negative feedback who care to reply. People who like the mod are already busy playing! (And also usually don't have anything to add other than "good progress", as they already agree with us!) So don't feel bad. Whenever you do just go through the comments on our Moddb page – reading them is bliss!

Okay, I'll knock some females up (no pun intended), but that might mean you'll have to handle some more of the slp making while you wait for me to catch up.

Also, ughh. Chariots. A simple death animation consists of two dying horses, a dying guy, a breaking chariot, yeah. Now I remember why I procrastinated on this.

No stopping, don't worry. I doubt I could if I wanted to at this point.

Anyway, chariot is done. Not my best work, but it will have to do. Making a chariot is just too many things going on, then condensed into the aok format, it doesn't work perfectly. It's passable though.

Same for the Hobbit. Tricky to get anything passable. Working on this though.

Hi everyone, I've been eagerly following your progress in this amazing mod for a while now, and I was just wondering, once the update is out, will it ever make it onto aoe2HD? this may be really complicated I don't really know so no problem if not, it's definitely worth going back onto gameranger or voobly to be able to play this great mod online! can't wait for the update

This game looks very interesting! I only have two questions: 1 does it overwrite The Conquerors or can you still play The Conquerors after the download? And 2 can I use other mods (age of forgotten empires, Wheel of time) in addition without interference?
Thanks!
Edit: what about the dwarven kingdom Khazad-dum? I looked in the description and I didn't see them mentioned.

Yes, definitely on the cards. As soon as we release, we'll begin porting to HD.

The current beta version does overwrite Conquerors and doesn't work with other mods. But the next version that we are working on will not overwrite Conquerors, and will allow you to install alongside other mods.

Ok so I've been working on the Mordor SLPs for a bit now and it seems that the archer has 10 frames for it's forward atack and eight frames for every other direction. is this normal? or what should I do?

Edit: Miscounted

There will be Galadriel, Arwen, Eowyn, and a generic healer. The healer will probably be an older lady, in keeping with ROTK. I've got the Arwen unit half done, and I will try to get to the others soon. Though I'll be away until the end of the week.

I think the best use of that trick was in Battle of the Lechfeld by aMa with the Brother Petarde thing causing an avalanche on that castle. But yea, I never really got that one either. Exploding hawks and demo ships on the tan mountains are better imo. Or just modding a volcano in like Agamemnon did. Is there a "Mount Doom" object planned for ToME?

Oooh nice one!

One thing I noticed is that perhaps you could add a few more frames? Some of the attacking animations seem to skip from the club being upraised to having struck the ground. Hard to tell how it would look ingame though so if you guys test it and it looks fine ingame then I'll certainly take your word for it

Don't worry about seemingly missing frames; animations will look the best when they have appropriate frame rates attached to them in game.

@WRATHOFNORRIS: I will preffer to not post more gifs or anything related to my work... you know to save me some headaches

The .gif you posted for example shows a troll attacking extremely fast, and that lead to people thinking that more frames are needed, that it need a fix,etc,etc.

Funny thing is I posted the same troll a few pages ago with a fixed frame rate but yet people think is new.

When they are ported to the game the frame rate is slowed down and they look good in game, we have tested it.

I will be really gratefull if TOME team doesnt post anything done by me till is finished and working on the game.
