The OFFICIAL Scenario Editor Thread

In this thread, discuss what features you would like to see in a new editor. Share your thoughts and ideas. Please one idea per post please.

News

Well, I finally found some time to compile all the posts in this thread. Maybe later, when I have some more time, I will categorize them.

Current list

  1. Allow alteration of all unit stats (name, HP, attack, armor, speed, etc.) with or without triggers —CrystalCrown
  2. An object editor —Jawn Henry
  3. Trigger/condition/effect copier/paster/deleter!!! —Darkmaster
  4. The ability to edit terrain with triggers during a scenario —zyxomma100
  5. How about a trigger that lets your unit glow, like when you display instructions. Then they would know what unit is talking. —Dark_Aro
  6. They ought to fix the darned ">" being added when the instruction text is in red. —Jawn Henry
  7. Play sound; stop sound; fade sound; Create Danger Element; Alter Elevation —magne gb
  8. My opinion is the better the Scenario Editor the longer the life of the game will be! —Dark Side of Day
  9. Shorter and more wide variety of text colours —WGF_Innkeeper98
  10. Wouldn't it be better if we had a small popup window with all the colors like the one in MS Paint (under custom colors) and we drag to the color we like and lighten/darken it? —Darkmaster
  11. How about a rotate object trigger? Could be very helpful for cutscenes. —Nabrimn
  12. Hmm, maybe a building editor —AoC_DaVe
  13. A condition in a trigger being 'selected civ' —WGF_Innkeeper98
  14. It would be nice if you could change civilization names for fantasy campaign —Arthur of Kings
  15. The ability to use the scenario editor with multiple people online. As well as the ability to test the scenario, if it is a multiplayer scenario right out of the editor online. —iNtRePiD
  16. A good waterfall please!! —Hector Ocampo
  17. I would like to see bridge hp's and edit bridge names —War_SythVic279
  18. I think there should be a sound editor in the editor so you wouldn't have to exit or minimize the game every time you wanted to change a sound. —Magic_Amazon
  19. I also think there should be a choice of fonts and sizes for text in the editor instead of having just one font and size. —Magic_Amazon
  20. Another thing I would like in the editor is a trigger or something so that units can get on a horse —Magic_Amazon
  21. But KEEP the AoK editor format. I just love it! —Shiva
  22. I would like to see more triggers in a new editor. —CrystalCrown
  23. You should be able to copy AOK homemade scenarios to AOE3! —HIGH EMPEROR
  24. I like to change the name of a unit before the unit being created. —Legolas_1
  25. Volcano; Shovels on the floor; Weather; Better Bridges; Cheat units available in list; You can actually put an AVI at the start —LithiumXL
  26. A way to figure out how much damage an object has taken with triggers. —zyxomma100
  27. A way to lay out your scenario's in the campaign on a map, kinda like the campaigns that came with the game. Adds to creativity —King Jeff 2

The topic post is the post before the first post. I have no clue what you're talking about.

Okay, I'll update (just to get you back on topic and so this thread doesn't get closed).

Quoted from Dark_Aro:

Don't you think that is a bit too far into the future, because if everytime that you create a new civ, it gets added to a 'Custom Civs' folder where you can pick out the civ. If all people created new civs for each scn they create the folder will become full of 100's of different cvis, some maybe even the same except they we're spelt differently...

Anyway, I don't really mind it at all actually, so I'd be for it! (I was only stating some problems there migth be)

Sorta like there already are for custom map scripts and AIs?

IDEA:
Hmm, maybe a building editor? A bit like the ModPack Studio we have now for AoK, but not as custom that you have to install some files and install a whole new program. (Basically just an ES made program that comes with the game)

good idea Dave, but make it a lot easier to edit, like have the picture editor built into the program, and maybe have some extra web site where u can go and download all extra pics for buildings etc

Hmm, now that you mention it...yeah, just like RMS and AIs.

Having lots of custom things adds to the plyaability of the game and the amount of time the game is popular and doesn't die out. (Hmm, does that scentence make proper sense?)

no, it didn't

i think you ment

It could have many addons and options that make the game a lot more fun (increase its playabillity) so that AOEIII wouldn't get boring

That's what i mean with an object editor. Somthing that could edit bldgs, trees, terrain, units, change their stats/looks, create new ones, same with Civs, techs, whatnot...

The civ. editor should only be available in the scenario editor only, unlike EE, where the player was able to do so in the game itself.

A condition in a trigger being 'selected civ'. Now we have the unique technology researched as a kind of civ condition, but requires it to be in Post-Imperial age. If we could have a civ selected trigger we could use it in any age.

IMHO I think that a civ. editor is a bit too far. Creating totally unique civs is different from RMS. RMS everything is equally for all players, unique civs would be like creating a (very old) Pokιmon deck. There are so many different combinations. Have you ever thought of that fantastic combination that you wish could be made. Like Byzantines have the Architect and other Building HP increasing technologies, (only thing I can think of atm). If that were made possible any civ that are almost totally balanced by ES would just be pointless, you might as well just have not civs and just include the game with a civ creater manual.

EE didnt have a civ creator.it has a bonus-giver thing.its not any different from a blank civ except for some few bonuses to stuff.

It would be nice if you could change civilization names for fantasy campaigns (I don't make any but I do play some).

It would also be nice if you could create your own units or buildings though this would be a programming problem.

The ability to use the scenario editor with multiple people online. As well as the ability to test the scenario, if it is a multiplayer scenario right out of the editor online.
