The friendship between many Canadians and Americans are declining. Many Americans are angry or not happy with Ottawa's decision to not join the war with the US. Back in Sep 11, 2001, Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien said Canada will stand shoulder to shoulder with the US. Now, the US is at war with Iraq, and Ottawa is not supporting by sending troops. Last night, I saw the news about a American business not selling a printer to a Canadian bidder on Ebay, eventhough he won the bid due to the lack of support from the Canadian government. This is surely a sign of deteriorating friendship. I know there are many Canadians that support the US led war against Iraq and they would be posting an ad in USA Today about their support. Trade deals are cancelled too. Also, the Americans did not call the companies that helped fight the oil fires in Iraq back in 1991.
Many of these evidences are showing that Americans and Canadians are becoming less friendly with each other. This can lead to less economic developments in both country, which many people are surely not going to like. This is my opinion.
Now, I would like to hear about yours. Is the friendship between Canadians and Americans deteriorating? Also, would the effect last forever or the people might eventually forget about this? Thank you for taking the time to read this.
