I can hardly see how getting a dual core processor hurts, though. As long as you can afford it, does it really matter?
I guess you could get a slightly better video card or maybe a better MB if you go with a cheaper processor, but those ones he's looking at around $200-300. Not a huge savings in going for a single core.
