I wonder what would have happened if the United States and England had boycotted the 1936 Olympics in Berlin? Would Hitler not committed the Holocaust because he did not think he could get away with it after that? Would that have shocked the German people into waking up?
I can not help but wonder the same thing today. Should the world boycott not just the opening ceremony, but the whole Olympics? Is it time for the world to do the right thing and stand up against injustice?
Within China you have farmers barely scraping by, regions riddled with aids because of their local governments, Tibetan massacres, impoverished factory workers, Muslim minorites, and you compile all that without some basic rights that we hold dear in Western society.
I am asking you guys, is this the right thing? If it is, is it time to actually do it?
"Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both."
-Benjamin Franklin
