One time I was bored and started a thread called "1000 Bad Things That Could Happen", where people would list undesirable things that could potentially occur in a game of AoK.

Even though the thread was total spam and half the posts were people flaming me, we actually completed our goal of 1000 bad things. Even better, we spawned a short-lived parody thread called "1000 GOOD things that could happen".

Why do I bring this up, you ask? I don't know, I actually thing it's a pretty cool thread. If you have any threads that you are particularly proud of (eg Splash Splash) post them here.

If you mean Cobra the Mediocre I totally and utterly agree although he might still be one of those 'Oh I'm using a computer but I resent mercy on account of darwinism forgetting the only way I'm not eaten by a bear is because society's provided the means to live in a shelter and use computers' people, but I'm okay with that as long as he doesn't try to eat me!

...he's an okay dude!

Cobra, those threads were shocking. Reminds me of myself in 2004 onwards when I first started using comment boxes in maps for Sudden Strike 2. I was so immature it's outrageous and I am embarrassed to look back!

At least one thing is missing: We need Cobra to come back. He got chased away by CC's crackdown post, and he hasn't really been back since.
I never knew about CC's crackdown, actually. I was inactive during that time.

When moderators are not active in a community, self-moderation is ideal, but that's not the case anymore. Those that were disruptive have been banned or had action taken against them. If somebody does go too far, I can step in, but that has rarely happened since I came back -- there's rarely any conflict or hostilities in this forum (hostilities that are "serious", anyway ).

The Town's Crier becoming an intelligence hub sounds dreamy, but it's not what I intended, nor what I want. It was CC's idea of a community forum while I wasn't the caretaker, but now that I'm back in action, I'd much rather have a close community, one that's fun, and one that's fun for *me* especially. There's a good reason why I don't allow controversial topics like religion and politics, and I'm positive people who are completely mature and intelligent *would* have troubles adjusting to this place. That said, intellectual threads will always get replies when they're posted, and many of our forumers are definitely intelligent; they just choose not to play the part 24/7.

A forum is a reflection of it's moderation, and I have no problem with this forum, in it's present state, being a reflection of myself.
Copy Axl Rose and say it's youth's fault. It's always the youth's fault.
I'm referencing his justification of saying the "N-word" in one of his songs, and which led to many people accusing him of being a racist. He originally justified it by saying one of his favorite rap groups (NWA) had it in their group's name, among many many other excuses, but then a few years later, he justified it by blaming it on how young he was, and claimed he had significantly matured since.

newIdea sold his soul and went along with CC, which pretty much coincided with him leaving this place.

Actually, a few people left then, Cobra though actually came out and said why. I believe he posted in SS about it once.

Oh yes. But isn't it strange how you just happened to use the word on me? There is like 7 billion people in this world. Narrow, uhm naro...(get it?) that down to the thousands we have here and of all these people you chose to use it on me .

Oh well, it's all in the past now right?

I think the problem is that people get emotional and hurt when their opinions are challenged. Religion and politics are to discussion what Risk is to board games: it always ends up with friendships being dissolved, no matter how nice you try to be.

Not really, I love religious or political debates with my friends. The only problem is most of my friends agree with me. But I still love debating.

Threads about religious and political discussions are filled with my spam posts here at AoKH. Seems like only yesterday when I was arguing against the Iraq war before it happened, both here and on the Myll/TOAO clan forums.

God...I just saw that "Surge picking on me" -link.

2001, the year when I was at my best.

"Especially awe-inspiring is the fact that any single brain is made up of atoms that were forged in the hearts of countless stars billions of years ago... These atoms now form a conglomerate – your brain – that can not only ponder the very stars that gave it birth but can also think about its own ability to think and wonder about its own ability to wonder. With the arrival of humans…the universe has suddenly become conscious of itself. This, truly, is the greatest mystery of all." - Rama

Brilliant.

Well, apparently it never happened. And nI never sold his soul, a lot of people were into the idea of a "reformed" TC. Judging from those threads, it was a different place than the one we have now. But without those reforms, it has fared just fine, and Splash Splash wasn't killed off, which seems like something that would be *highly likely* if the post limit thing had been implemented.

Poor 2003 Aro, just recruited and having trouble asserting his authority, bending infidels to his will. See, if that had happened these days, I would've bashed some skulls. Bashed them reeeal hard. Especially Ornlu's.

My favorite part of that thread was that toolman suggested that it be stickied. Of course, that was probably about the same time that Splash Splash was a sticky thread in this forum.

Aro, it wasn't so much that you weren't asserting your authority. It was more that you were trying to prevent rioting in the streets over the intimidating shiny newness of the Town's Crier.

Pfft, look at Crier right now. How can there be riots with that kind of progress? *Puts cuffs away and cries.*

I remember back when I proposed the Crier, there was concern it would end up like the old KoRT.
