Besides the obvious "Play AoK online" and "start a SD project", that is.

This is because I will have many long gaps between classes at university (and don't bother suggesting "homework") once September hits, and I cannot play AoK online at school (I still haven't figured out why not from last year ).

I wrote that riff too when I started out. Drop D ftw.
Really? I only played it in E standard.
Sounds like you need to purchase a hi-hat, a collection of cymbals and tom-toms of all kind, one more pedal, and a drum idol to worship.
Even with all of that extra stuff it's not as if you can play scales on a drumkit. Nah, gimme something with frets any day.

I love complex drum rhythm pattern, Aro knows what I speak of. That drumming is just insane.

See this is why I can't live without my laptop at Uni, every break I either do work or goof off on that machine.

Also, you can't play AoK from a Uni connection. I tried that too.

I think the best thing to do is to get a season or two of a show you have been meaning to catch up on DVD.

This used to be an issue for me in 1st year, but last year (3rd) was so insanely overloaded I used almost every spare productively or got behind.

We don't need that lame OD atmosphere around TC!

But if I were you, I'd do sports. Go jogging about 4 days and to the gym 2-3 times a week. Eat tunafish. You can get a lot more from yourself if you're physically in shape.
I don't mind biking around the countryside, but I really should do it more often, and for longer periods of time, even though I've done more biking this summer than in the last three years or so - combined.
Take photographs of yourself and post them in the picture thread!
You obviously haven't looked at the picture thread, then. And I doubt anyone wants me to make the picture thread a personal photographic diary.
Play World in Conflict, Empires: Total War, or Mount&Blade.
No matter how many different games I play, AoK is the only one that really keeps me entertained (besides Rise of Rome occasionally with my cousin). So constantly buying new games would be a big expense, especially if I end up not enjoying them.
This used to be an issue for me in 1st year, but last year (3rd) was so insanely overloaded I used almost every spare productively or got behind.
Heh, I'm going into my second year. And it's good to know that it's not just me, although that doesn't really make me any happier about the fact.
Fly to a foreign country
Unfortunately, my student's budget doesn't really allow for that.

As to the music/movie suggestions, I don't have the equipment for that, and somehow I can't see my folks letting me get a drum set or a guitar. I could take up playing the piano again, though.

And Silk, I was asking for suggestions to do during gaps in classes at university... as in being in public...

Piano is good. As long as it's the classical one and not some electronic synthesizers or something.

Don't diss keyboards. They might not be as classy as pianos but they are versatile and plenty awesome in their own right.

What couldn't? Keyboards are just fine. Not everyone has enough space in their homes to fit a decent grand piano.

Take up piano, learn something cool, and stick it in that SD project I'm SURE you're doing...right?

Try Rachmaninoff Prelude in c#...you could build an entire cutscene around that one!

Piano's underrated, probably because it's not as famous as the "cooler sounding" guitar, but you can get some emotional, atmospheric stuff out of a piano (or preferably, a *KEYBOARD* -- synth keyboard sounds are great, and keyboards let you upload directly to a computer).
