It's a well-known rule that negativity attracts attention. If I say "Wolfmother is a great band ^_^" no-one would listen, but if I said "WOLFMOTHER IS A TERRIBLE BAND, ANYONE WHO DISAGREES IS A MORON" I'm suddenly I'd be the man of the hour. The result? We have web sites and news stations blaring negativity at us through a bullhorn, and it's easy to get a skewed perceptive of the world as being far worse than it really is.
...So, in this thread, we post happy things. Inspirational stories, motivational quotes, anything you can find. No image spamming, please.
On topic: I can just imagine those kids the next day explaining where the bruises came from.
"One guy did this to you? He must have been huge!" "Well... actually he was a little guy. Kind of old. He used some kind of kung fu." "How old?" "A hundred... but that's not important! He knew kung fu!"
Anyway, I'd recommend the Good News Network, but it's switched over to some strange subscription method now.
Seeing that this is the happiness thread, I'll post something that's been making me happy:
Late at night, I go outside in the middle of the road with my trombone, and my notes echo through the night...If you have any sort of musical instrument, I suggest trying this out...its such a cool feeling....just make sure its late enough so that there aren't too many cars on the road.
No noise complaints yet, and its pretty damn awesome!

Warning: The event is fictional.
An accident was happened; a helicopter fall from altitude of ten thousand feet. However, no victim fall, even the pilot. No procedures were omitted. Apparently, when the pilot was interrogated, he admits that... the heli fell because when he was at 10000 feet, he felt so cold, so that he turned off the propeller fan.
The Hour (of Judgment) is nigh, and the moon is cleft asunder. But if they see a Sign, they turn away, and say, "This is (but) transient magic." They reject (the warning) and follow their (own) lusts but every matter has its appointed time. (Al-Qamar: 1-3)

The Free Hugs campaign is very old, but still inspiring
Someone I know was once assaulted by free hugs people, who hugged him off his bicycle.
(The positive part here is that he survived)

Mobbed by free hugs people....this is what happens when people get a little bit too involved...for example, we had a day at our school when we were supposed to hang out with different people to break barriers and stuff..I sat down with some people I didn't know, and before long, we had a whole group taking up the hallway sitting around us. By the end of it, half the school was walking down the hallway and yelling...the police were called as a precaution, but class started before anything went haywire....
Erm...we broke barriers!!! That should make everyone happy!!

I'm confused. Why were they crowding? Were you having a good discussion? Were you in pitched combat? Were you... y'know... ...
...
Please elaborate.
On a positive note, it's snowing here for real now. I'm happy.

Glad to know that I'm not the only snow-lover around here.
As for things that make me happy, getting stuff done early always gives me a good feeling inside.

Ladies and Gentlemen, wear sunscreen. If I could offer you only one tip for the future, sunscreen would be IT. The long term benefits of sunscreen have been proved by scientists, whereas the rest of my advice has no basis more reliable than my own meandering experience.

Going to school makes me happy. Well, just because I can wreak havoc with friends
True (and hilarious) story: I recently got high fived so hard i fell over.
The song "High Fives" by Suburban Legends makes me happy whenever I listen to it. Which is quite often.

Also, youtube has plenty of amusing little things for your mind to wander in happiness. even if it has no meaningful use, if it makes you happy in times you need it to alleviate pain or stress, it can help.

haha. I had a weird visualization. Imagine that Anime form.
Hmmmm...specific feelings...

Last night I walked home and it started snowing, that felt pretty awesome.

There's laugh yoga and laugh therapy, so why not? I listen to songs with weird vocals (Mike Patton for a great part) and sing along and that's kind of therapeutic.
