Well tomorrow I officially wrap up my undergraduate studies and well, I have a stack of books I want to read.
See, I am a history major. That means reading, lots of it. Well I never kept up with the reading as I went so I have a stack of books that I want to read, but never did. I haven't made a thread in a while so I figured I can kill two birds with one stone.
I have narrowed down the choices to five books:
Graham Greene's "Quiet American" - a book about Vietnam sometime between 1950-1954 (fiction)
Philip Caputo's "a Rumor of War" - a memoir about the Vietnam War, specifically 1965-68
Heda Margolius Kovaly's "Under a Cruel Star" - a memoir about life in Prague 1941-1968
Primo Levi "Survival in Auschwitz" - the memoirs of Primo Levi, an Itallian Jew.
Christopher Browning's "Ordinary Men" - the history of Reserve Police Battalion 101 and how their role in the Final Solution in Poland (historical).
"Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both."
-Benjamin Franklin
