Sorry that sucks.
On another note, has anyone ever tried those shitty relentlessly advertised, cheap Internet, mostly bad sex appeal games? I accidentally clicked on one called p*ssy saga and decided to see where it went. It was a fascinating sub culture. One part dating sim, one part candy crush, and one part economy/business sim. The dating sim consistently offers three dialogue choices, two of which are perverse, borderline rapey. The third is humorously oblivious (relative to the shitty alternatives at least), but if you choose it too often you get shoehorned into three equally shitty sexual choices. The plot line is something about needing to please a love goddess by having sex with a bunch of girls who are slightly modified Disney princesses. So you go through these annoying dialogues and then can expend resources to go on a date. A date is a candy crush level. If you beat the level you get closer to sex, but every time you go on a date with one girl, another, random girl, whom you never met, sends you a shitty sexy pic trying to get you to go for her instead. I thought they would go the candy crush method and try to get you to pay your way to victory on arbitrarily hard final levels, which they probably do at some point. But looking at its actually the sheer complexity of the economy/business sim that they use as their crutch. There's a ton of resources obtainable through unclear means that are required to get more business and go on dates. As a result, through the chaos of the system, they try to get you to just pay for the resources, bypassing that part of the game and getting to your shitty lady friends. Vinyl rates this game a 0/3 stars and apologizes promptly for intoxicatiom. No I did not pay monies for this. Also everyone had weird boobs and the things were drawn shit. And the sjitty love fairy was annoying as hell. Oh but you could get items and stuff during the candy crush. That was actually ok. Like there were bad things that the girl didn't like like harvest moon romancing for something like that. It's like hey girl want some milk? Some flowers? Some eggs? And she's like I hate those things but then doesn't give them back sink guess she just trashes it. Stupid harvest moon girls. Men too though. They're just as bad. They need to bring back rune factory . That shit had the good stuffs of farming but also killing stuff and a giant golem. I wanna play harvest moon where you, a plainly farming lad, must rise up from rural poverty to depose the greedy capitalist who technically owns your land. Only to become the wealthiest landowner in town, and then stop farming and just be a dik when new farmers start their farming and you're just waving a bitter came at them. And if you're too much of a dick then your farmey wife leaves you and you just start over as your son, now trying to depose your former self. That shit would be fine boys.

The above post reminds me of Molly's stream-of-thought in Ulysses.
I analogue-googled (spoke to a Japanese person) about the hospital thing. So, in short, yes, most close down on weekends, i.e. maintain "opening hours" for non-emergency cases. The emergency dept. is running around-the-clock, if it's a proper, designated hospital. Some hospitals are open on Saturday morning for non-emergency cases, but since everyone works on weekdays, long lines are to be expected. Apart from that, in Japan you first go to a clinic for non-emergency cases. Anyway, no, you won't have to wrap that stump.
"Frightfully low-tech" -- It's low-tech where hi-tech unnecessarily complicates things. It's smart. You avoid bloated software, incompatible hardware, and the task of educating millions of 50-60-y-o on how to use a computer, when time is limited and business needs to be done. AoKH is "frightfully lo-tech" as far as forum software goes. I like it because it does what it needs to do, and does it well.
"Houses have no heat" -- why do they not all freeze to death in Hokkaido, then? Because they have central heating and insulation. In Tokyo, on the other hand, space is very valuable. We build thin walls, insulate little and prefer mechanical space heating, because it saves space. A central heating system is a huge space-waster and money-loser.
That being said, there are plenty of big companies which offer fully insulated and centrally heated detached villas. I visited a demo-house a few months ago, and that thing was better built than what I saw back in Sweden.
There's also the earthquake and fire risk, which I'm not going to explain. But if you move a house from Colorado to Japan, you can't just expect it to work perfectly in that new situation. It might not even work after substantial adjustment, because the base concept is wrong. Building styles and their functions grow logically from their local conditions over hundreds of years.
When foreigners come and live in Japan, they typically have little money and don't understand the real estate market. So they get a really cheap house. And a really cheap Japanese house in the harsh Japanese climate, is as good as a really really cheap house in Colorado, i.e. not very good.
"No English" -- I find it more bilingual than Stockholm in many places. Especially on public transport, where they can have up to 4 different languages for each direction sign (Japanese, Korean, Chinese, English). Yes, the English-speaking level is very low. But the writing level is high. If you think a typical Japanese person can't understand English just because he didn't catch what you just said, write it down -- he will understand.
"The Outsider" -- Look in the mirror. Does your face look Japanese? No. Does it matter? No. Do people care? The first 10 seconds. What do they care about? If you are a good person, or if you're not. Now, can you respect Japanese values? Be humble, honest, not complain about all the things that clash with your current year-2017 portfolio of Correct Opinions?
Moving to another country is a challenge. Humility is central when you make such a move, in all cultures. If you ignore fundamental us/them thinking, i.e. the thinking of this article, you will do fine.

Sorry for that. But double up on the demand for more cute farming sim games that also have fighting.
