I remember when I was getting into heated political discussions here, especially with Popeychops. He embarrassed me so badly on some occasions that I came to issue my political opinions very carefully in real life and keep them to myself unless I considered them well-thought. I suppose that's good. Nowadays, I don't even tend to form any opinions on issues that don't personally concern me or that I don't know much about. Not sure that's a good thing or a bad thing.
I will say though, that there are some occasions on which I still hold Popeychops to have been wrong. For example, I still believe that monotheistic religions are more likely to cause violence and upheaval than polytheistic religions, because polytheistic religions can accommodate and integrate foreign gods into their own pantheons. Popeychops said that this was the exception, not the rule, but that's clearly not true.
